Would I Lie To You

Mervin Gersh write catchy, upbeat songs tinged with comic sadness. The Liverpool five-piece have a nice line in hooky melodies, soaring trumpets and downright dirty, funky basslines. Their music lies somewhere between The La’s and Gogol Bordello.

Debut mini-album ‘Know Your Gersh’ is out now, featuring first single ‘Would I Lie To You’. The self-released album contains five songs which showcase Mervin Gersh’s crunchy Scouse twang, including live favourites ‘Home Again’ and ‘Kung Fu’. ‘Would I Lie To You’ has gained regular plays on local radio, and is currently being featured on Liverpool FC’s own TV channel, LFC TV.

Mervin Gersh are: Ste Hotson (vocals/guitars), Jason Biggs (vocals/guitars), Simon Davies (vocals/bass), Jay Murphy (drums/percussion) and Chris ‘Chonga’ Doherty (trumpet). The band was formed in 2011 at the Albert Hotel on Liverpool’s bohemian Lark Lane. A shed-load of local gigs commenced, with the band quickly gaining a dedicated following. In February 2012 they took over 30 people with them to a gig at Limbo Live in Edinburgh, where the ‘Gersh treated fans old and new to a really good old-fashioned knees-up.
