pat me down

a fairly inoffensive duet from a rather tentative session on monday night - we have a neighbour problem, god help us.

heatseeker

richard does everything and peter plays alto. it's a 1963 selmer mark 6 with the neck of an earlier model.... could be off an 'sba' or anything since about 1930. this was recorded on richard's asteroid and features his treated guitar, recording processes, programming and sampling, live or otherwise. hooray for richard.

fluxistence

looped guitar, looped saxophone. the guitar is that shergold 12 string again, the sax still a selmer mk 6 alto with the wrong  neck. this piece is entirely improvised and recorded under richard's control on his asteroid. all guitar, looping, sampling and mixing by richard miles. saxophone and editing by peter pick. we are and remain the mighty meshmass.

when there were birds

meshmass assumes the greeks are being punishedfor displaying insufficient zeal in capitalistic self-exploitation and failing to honour the gods of neo-liberalism. meshmass accepts that the greeks have been kidnapped as a nation and held to ransom and that they must borrow the money from their kidnappers at extortionate interest in order to buy themselves back into a life of debt and servitude. this improvisation is not strictly relevant.

varoufakis

richard has his yamaha mg-k on again, and peter plays a newly restored fx huller 'world' alto sax from around 1938 or so with a selmer soloist mouthpiece. respectfully dedicated to mel, who restored the huller and expressed a desire to hear it played.....

inking up

richard has his yamaha with the sustaining pickup strapped round his shoulders. peter has a pierret 'super artiste' alto hanging from his neck. there is stuff coming out of the computer. and richard has a new fuzzbox which he claims is made of geraniums.

abrogate this

a little something from january for you. we played a gig in brighton and the promoter told us we looked good. we are astonished and insulted. good gig though. this track has nothing to do with that. richard plays a yamaha s.e. something or other, and peter an SML gold medal 1 tenor.

richard plays his godin fretless. peter plays a martin handcraft soprano sax from 1927. the 'shadow' is the latter being microphonised by the former. so there. this track is one of 20 (amounting to 2 hours) on the latest subscription release 'JUNEMASS 2018'. one year of meshmass is available to you for £10 payable to auralwitness@gmail.com on paypal.

only bettered by a soapstone joss-stick holder, this is a period piece worth collecting. part of NOVEMBERMASS 2018, hot now on imaginaryworldchartsradio.  richard and peter play things. peter has got more than one saxophone. richard has guitars.

improvised duet. peter plays a hohner president alto sax, richard a tokai strat.

light submarine

a socially distanced improvised duet. the basic track was made by mr richard miles in sussex, england, and the saxophone was added by dr peter pick in the mayenne, france. he then mixed it, more or less.

caution, reversing piano

richard made the basic track in england, playing the bass guitar. peter played a pierret 'super artiste' tenor saxophone over the top of it in france. this is the result.
