I wanted to record a straight-to-the-point mix of heavy club sonics. It goes from breakbeat and machine-funk acid into the more percussive, bassier fringes of my collection. As always, I’m obsessed with the concept of the hardcore continuum, and I like to see in which different ways I can tap into it with my mixes, trying to snip and patch many points of club music history into new collages. We go from Detroit to Manchester to Tokyo, Baltimore, South London and beyond with this one.

For the next entry in the Mesh mix series, we welcome Mesh artist Evan Gildersleeve, who brings an hour-long journey weaving together distorted textures, visceral rhythms, and fragmented melodies, unfolding a world that feels both intimate and expansive.

In Evan's own words, 'Having grown up listening to a lot of heavy, guitar based music, I’m often drawn to artists who channel a kind of unwieldy energy. I’ve also become increasingly fascinated by manipulations of the voice, something that appears in many forms across the hour. This mix is very much representative of the artists I admire whose music has had an undeniable impact on who I am creatively. It’s a selection of tracks that I often return to and continue to resonate deeply'.

For Tectonic’s 20th anniversary, label boss Pinch rounds up some heaters from the label alongside their Tectonic Sound compilation. Spinning the whole bass spectrum, Pinch goes from broiling two step to scrubbing grime, with frazzled pulse discharging great energy beside Trim’s idiosyncratic, expressive raps. Lighter moments like the whizzing, zipping, euphoric arpeggios of Peverlist’s ‘Feel Something’ are offset by guttural moody bass, travelling from the club convergence of rattles and tings and brightly resonating metals on Bohdi’s ‘Bellcurve’ to the heavy rotating bass of J. Sparrow’s ‘L33T SP33K’, with slippery dub lasers echoing out.

For the next instalment of the Mesh Mix Series, we welcome Berlin-based artist and community leader Llyr to the decks. Known for crafting immersive sonic ecosystems through field recordings, advanced studio techniques, and classic synthesis, he now channels his distinctive sensibility into a mix that reflects the breadth and depth of his sound world.

In Llyr's own words, 'When I was invited to contribute to the Mesh Mix series, I saw it as the perfect canvas for sonic exploration - a chance to traverse different moods, tempos, and energy levels without the constraints of a typical ‘DJ set’. I envisioned something closer to a mixtape crafted for close friends: each track given space to unfold and breathe before colliding into the next, but occasionally veering into club territory.

As I considered what to record for this, I realised I already had something that would fit the bill perfectly: a recording from my series of opening sets for Max Cooper's DE tour earlier this year. Those shows are always a license to go eclectic for an audience eager to hear a wide range of music, and the preparation always involves a deep dive to discover new music and artists that I'm excited to hear on a big sound system.

 The accompanying photograph was taken at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory on La Palma, home to some of the world's most powerful telescopes perched at the island's highest point. This photo was taken minutes before the Cumbre Vieja volcanic ridge down below erupted for the first time in 50 years. The juxtaposition of the island's geological forces at work beneath this place dedicated to cosmic observation felt profound: contemplating the vast scale of space while witnessing the earth's own transformative power.'
