"Mèsico was my grandfather. He came into the world in the middle of the ocean, on the poorest deck of a ship that was bringing home his family from Brazil, after some years spent as immigrants. It was the beginning of the last century. Once in Italy, he was christened with the name of Guido but, for the rest of his life, he was called Giovanni, in memory of his older brother, who died falling off the ladder of the barn. My grandfather was a huge guy, wider than tall, strong as a bull, fierce, hungry. In the tiny Italian village where he grew up, people didn't know much about the rest of the world. Whether you were from Brazil, Chile, Argentina or Mexico, it made no difference to them. So, he was marked for life with the nickname of Mèsico, with a "S" instead of a "X", because of the hasty and unceremonious local dialect. Later on, my father was called Mèsico and now, I am Mèsico".

Mèsico is Paolo Mazzacani, co-founder of the electronic duo Tempelhof. This is his first work as solo.
