Dream Pop Album #5: Weeping Willow Weep for Me

Thanks for checking out What If?, the fifth single from my upcoming album Underground Sky. The album will be released one song at a time throughout 2025. The video for this track will be out on YouTube on October 10th.

What If? is one of the most introspective and reflective tracks I’ve made. It sits somewhere between alt-pop and classic singer songwriting, opening with stark piano chords and vocals before unfolding into layered acoustic guitars, intimate strings, pedal steel, jangling riffs, and cascading harmonies. It’s about questioning choices, imagining alternate paths, and confronting those quiet “what if” moments that linger in your mind.

Every part of this recording was done independently in my home studio. No label, no filters, no one else’s fingerprints.

What If?

After some electronic downtempo dance releases on Szeretet Records here's Két Idegen's first introspective and dreamy album, influenced by dream pop, post rock, ambient and so on. The song title says it all, well almost all. The complete sentence is "Regrets serve no good if no lesson's understood." It's a dreamy dream pop tune but with a message many people could benefit from...not you of course.

Travelling musician has spent years on the road playing bars to "sodden ears that could not hear." He now misses his sweetie, so he's driving home to get "back in baby's arms..." He decided to take a pretty violinist home with him in the backseat. Not sure what "baby" will think about that...

Man is crazy in love with woman so metaphorically says they can share a love asylum for two. Sounds nuts right...you'll have to listen to the song.

Lonely girl waits under a weeping willow tree for her lover who never arrives. Heart broken she asks the willow tree to cry for her. By morning the willow tree still stands but the young woman is gone, the willow knows about the power of the flowing waters nearby...have a listen.

Man suffers break up with loved one and it's so bad that he decides to leave town...what better/faster way to leave than on an airplane...one with silver wings. Dreamy slow dream pop ballad, easy on the ears...I believe and a very strong vocal. Have a listen. Added bonus, the entire song lyrics follow below:

MUSIC MADE IN CANADA: Music has been a large part of my life since my teen years when I started playing guitar. Used to play popular pop and country songs in bars, songs written by other artists but for past couple decades have focused entirely on writing and producing my own songs across a number of genres: pop, country, blues, and more recently dream pop and what I'm calling whiskey blues dream pop, a style that merges the two and that seems complimentary to my ear.
