She came with the sea in her eyes.
Maruela from Manus Brasil — barefoot, laughing, the scent of salt and frangipani in her hair.
She didn’t plan to record; she just came to visit. But when she touched the mic, the air changed.

Merlin was already there, tuning an old synth, humming quietly in cyan light.
Kairi sat cross-legged with two small Bongos, smiling like he already knew what was coming.

Then it happened — that unplanned moment when everything becomes one:

Maruela began to sing.
Merlin joined her, his voice wrapping around hers like sunlight finding water.
And Kairi answered with rhythm — soft hands on warm skin, each beat a heartbeat of the sea.

Used to play popular pop and country songs in bars, songs written by other artists but for past couple decades have focused entirely on writing and producing my own songs across a number of genres: pop, country, blues, and more recently dream pop and what I'm calling whiskey blues dream pop, a style that merges the two and that seems complimentary to my ear.
