The construction crew is now at the tail end of the soil removal process from the 50 foot motherwell at the Metabolic Studio’s site. We’ll learn more about this 2.6 million year old soil through our team behind the soil’s post-dig management. Milli Macen-Moore, the team’s leader and head of Metabolic Studio’s FarmLab, will introduce us to David Orduno, our on-site cultural monitor, and Lynn Fang, a local soil scientist, to find out what the team has discovered during this process so far.

This walk took place in 2018, and he talks about Not a Cornfield, the Zanja Madre,  Lauren bon and Metabolic Studio's plans for Bending the River at that time, and the beginnings of the un-development projects at The Moon. We'll also hear Lauren Bon's commentary on some of these topics.

The Sonic Division of the Metabolic Studio uses sound as energy to remediate brownfields. Turning a silo on the edge of the Owens Dry Lake Bed into a musical instrument that plays itself—and reconnecting this industrial ruin with the city of Los Angeles, 240 miles away through sound. The Sonic Division plays, like sirens to ship wrecked sailors, weekly and filters that sound through  the silos that sit on the lake 240 miles away.
