Following the critically acclaimed Sailor & I album ‘Diving For Lost Treasure’, Metaphysical enlist underground mainstay Thomas Gandey to remix a track from it. 

‘Diving for Lost Treasure’ found Swedish artist Sailor & I going beyond his own limitations to serve up stunning songwriting with lush electronic production. Made up of stirring and emotive pop-dance songs, catchy grooves and aching melodies, the album is perfect source material for club-ready remixes, and so it proves at the hands of Thomas Gandey. 

Gandey is a legendary producer and DJ with many strings to his bow - he has recorded with Radioslave as Matom, has produced albums for David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, released on Planet E and Crosstown Rebels and held residencies everywhere from Space Ibiza to Womb in Tokyo. He recently launched his own Uncaged label and remains a pivotal figure almost 20 years into his career. 

This stunning remix pairs majestic piano keys with soaring vocals and neat, funky bass that cannot fail to lift spirits. The chords are warm and soulful, the drums perfectly paced and the keys grow ever more energetic to keep things moving onwards and upwards. By the end, dancefloors will be in raptures.

The debut album from Swedish singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Sailor & I is a seamless fusion of indie songwriting and electronic production. It's a record packed with emotion and dreamy grooves that are utterly engaging. Now, it gets reworked for the dancefloor by one of techno's most assured artists in Radio Slave.

The Rekids boss, born Matt Edwards, has been deeply entrenched in the scene for decades. His label is a techno tour de force, and his productions range from big, acid-tinged rave tracks to loopy, rolling, and atmospheric techno. Whatever he does, comes with a signature sound design that always makes an impact.

For this excellent remix he pairs powerful drums with emotive vocals and keys courtesy of Thomas Gandey, trapping you in a hypnotic groove peppered with lush hits and bright late-night melodies. It's a perfect track to lock dance floors in and take them to a higher plane.

German artist Ole Sturm steps up to Metaphysical with a remix of Sailor & I's 'Thinking About You' from his last album. 

Sturm has written and produced songs for artists like Steve Aoki, Moguai, Pretty Pink and Aka Aka in the past but now focuses on his own work. He has a widescreen sound that takes in influences from neuro-d&b, trance-like melodies and grooves from tech house. Add in his heavy bass and you have an artist with his own unique sound. 

And that's the case here on a supremely uplifting and summery remix. It has happy piano chords and the emotive vocal soars to the heavens. Vast rubbery kicks and warm bass add up to an irresistible groove and it's not hard to see this one making a huge impact at festivals all over the world this summer. The remix is accompanied by the still excellent original version for anyeon who missed it first time around.

Emerging South African star Sebee showcases his organic deep house sound on a new EP for Metaphysical featuring Tye and Yanga Grenade.

Sebee has already made an international mark with releases on the likes of Dynamic and Anjunadeep. He has a love of neo-classical sounds as well as being influenced by his local scene in South Africa and works as part of the Ad Harmonium project. He frequently teams up with childhood friend vocalist Tye who again features on two of these new cuts.

The sublime opener ‘Sebaningi’ features songwriter and vocalist Yanga Grenade who lends silky smooth and enchanting sounds to a deep groove. It’s built on warm broken beats that are perfect for cosy backrooms and intimate spaces with twinkling melodies and gentle piano chords all underpinned with organic bass. The exquisite ‘Borders’ layers up swaying drums and wooden hits with gorgeously serene strings, while the rhythmic vocals bring soul to this tasteful and tender groove. Last of all, ‘Music Song’ pics up the pace but remains resolutely heartfelt with jazzy chords swirling around the shuffling drums and bittersweet vocals. It’s a beautifully rich sound and seductive arrangement that sweeps you off your feet.

With this EP Sebee proves why he is one of the freshest new talents out of South Africa.
