It is finally here, my first mix in over 25 years! This mix is dedicated to Aly & Fila, my greatest inspiration of all time. :)

There was a time living in NYC around 2009 where I sunk into a dark place. I was thumbing through podcasts and decided to randomly click on their page. When I listened, I said "hey someone is actually still making the trance that I grew up with!" From then, for years I followed their intricate creativity as they combined the most unique sounds in the trance genre together, in a flawless and seamless way. I only met Aly one time in person after a show in Atlanta, I gave him a big hug and said to him "you hit the frequency of the pyramid with that one"... to which he laughed.. (if you know esoteria you understand). Thank you Aly & Fila for carrying me through many years of darkness and joy. 

This set reflects the inner turmoil I have faced the last few years, bliss and euphoria mixed with darkness, pain, and anger. Starting with an uplifter, the landscape will take you through a battle between light and darkness, ending with beautiful vocals. It was actually a healing experience for my soul to make it and listen to it.

The MetaMix series is 7 total parts - inspired by my 30 years of loving trance music. These are not your average mixes. They are greatly inspired by the 1990's, along with the "megamix" movement of Eurodance. Those sets were not mixed by "blending" as longer trance tracks were, they were hard turns and quick flips. So.. that is what you'll get here. It allows for a lot more options with surprises and reduces "build up and cool down" phases.

As such, this is coming out of a heart of loving trance for 30 years. If I were to put that all into seven mixes.. that would equal this series. I want these to be a gift to the world, inspiring healing for others. They are designed like the mixes of old, to listen from the beginning to end in one sitting, not as a party mix, but as a journey of sound, spirit and emotion, with a goal and a resolution. That is what these mixes are, a gift of healing.

Each MetaMix's tracks are carefully selected as a representation of my favorites, throwbacks to old, inspiration from new, and ultimately are done in the style of my favorite DJ's who best inspired the sounds, as a tribute to them. Each one has a different sound theme, and each carry depths of symbolism as part of the human experience and path towards healing.

MetaMix 1 - Shining Darkness (Uplifting / Hard Trance) - Aly & Fila Tribute

This mix is dedicated to Darren Porter, one of my favourite producers of all time. His songs that were most influential on me were my first true exposure to combining the sounds of hard trance with uplifting, which is the style I now follow in my own mixing. When I've needed inspiration, his tracks could always deliver it and did for years. Thank you Darren for all your amazing work! Initially starting with just Inertia and Deep Blue, when I decided to make this a tribute I added another five of Darren's best tracks in a "minimix" towards the end.

This mix is dedicated to Gareth Emery, a major influence on my passion for trance, especially the vocal genre. I always loved vocal trance since a young teenager, along with the fun eurodance beats and singing. When I first discovered Gareth's songs, I was living in NYC, and saw him live at Pacha at least three times. His sets were amazing experiences for me and his tracks deliver that heavenly touch we all need. Thank you Gareth for all you've done!

In the mythical story of the Garden of Eden, the first two humans existed in a beautiful paradise containing the Tree of Life and Tree of Knowledge. Known as a symbol for obedience to the Creator, they were tested and failed, and cast out of the garden to now live on the earth and fend for themselves. Yet in the story the Creator provided assurance that one day someone would come to restore all things.  

The song at minute 37 (the hardest most intense in the set), represents the temptation at the Tree of Knowledge, the battle. The songs following represent the plan for redemption of mankind, and the path we must walk together. Pay attention to the lyrics, everything is intentional :)

Lots of symbolism for me. Listen from beginning to end to get the full effect.

Finally here...... My envisioned tribute to A.R.D.I. - uplifting "electrotrance" 

This was actually finished 2 months ago, believe it or not, I kept holding off posting because I wanted to remix again to fix a few spots but kept procrastinating, so tonight, I finally said, hey.. it's ok if it's not perfect! Get it out there :) 

Dedicated to my 30 years of loving trance music, the MetaMix series is seven mixes which each highlight a style of trance I love in tribute to a DJ that influenced me. 

My goal with this mix is to highlight what I like to call “Electro-Trance”… a style somewhere between uplifting, hard, psy, tech.. tighter beats with a synth that sounds like.. well, electricity 😎

MetaMix 4 - Electricity (Uplifting Electro Trance) - A.R.D.I. Tribute

Been a hard few days, was quite sad and wanted to put a few songs together that could help cheer me up.  I first called it "Happy Trance 1" :) but maybe "Healing Trance" carries more meaning.

I love this style of uplifting trance above all electronic genres. By simply arranging the songs in a certain order you can start the mix at 0.01 and at the end you've put your psyche, spirit, and emotional state exactly where you want it. In the heavens, in the light, not in this deep darkness we sometimes sink in. I deal with pretty significant mental health challenges and have been there many times.

This does not mean, however, that all the songs are cheerful. Some are more intense, mysterious sounds, that can represent the harder emotions like anger and pain, frustration and hopelessness. It's important to feel those feelings, but not to stay stuck, it needs to end with a resolution in a higher place, and this is where the uplifting finishes the set.

So, hope it cheers you up, it did for me. These "self-therapy mixes" are unique for me, because they always come to me when in a very dark place, struggling or suffering in some way. The songs, and order, and then I will listen to it for days on end, each time offering me another dose of healing. :)

Metatron7 - Healing Trance / Mix 1

Finally back after a long break! Introducing: Metamix 5 - Rising Sunsets! *teaser mix

This is the 5th rendition of the Metamix series, each highlighting a specific genre of trance as a tribute to a DJ that played a major influence on me. There will be seven total mixes in this series as a celebration to my 30 years of loving trance music. 

This mix is dedicated to Ori Uplift! Ori is known for many things, but to me he represents a true portrayal of melodic trance at its finest.  

Ori has a podcast out each week, and one of them is called "instrumental only" tracks, with others being "vocal trance" only. 

In Rising Sunsets, I wanted to highlight instrumental only tracks, also known as "melodic" so you will not be hearing any vocal trance tunes in this mix, only instrumental! 

I like to think of this metamix 5 as worthy of a sunset drive along the beach, or winding roads of a mountain retreat. You get the idea, this mix is meant to inspire us through the sounds of nature, with many piano and string melodies.

MetaMix 5 - Rising Sunsets (Uplifting Melodic Trance) - Ori Uplift Tribute *Teaser mix

I have been a trance lover since the 1990's. As an American born Romanian 🇷🇴, I grew up only listening to eurodance and electronic music ⚡️. Living in Detroit, as a teenager I remember seeing Armin Van Buuren at the annual electronic music festival (now known as Movement) when it was still free to attend! I made my first trance mixes at age 17, completing five sets, inspired by the sounds of Gatecrasher, Ministry of Sound, and Ibiza. 

As an adult, I got back into the trance scene in 2010 while living in NYC, and it has not stopped since. My greatest inspiration the last decade has been the sets of Aly & Fila (Future Sound of Egypt), who I had the pleasure of meeting in Atlanta after one of the greatest productions I've ever seen. It's been a long heart-felt desire to mix my own sets again, and now in 2024 I'm ready to start! 

Let's go on this music journey together. You will see a rare blending of the uplifting melodic and vocal trance genre, with dark/hard trance. This polarity is a reflection of me... light ☀️ and darkness 🌒 are always fighting each other.
