“I’m very happy to announce the launch of my label Declassified Records - a home for SP:MC productions moving forward. Starting my own imprint has been something I’ve been toying with for a while now, yet never given my full focus. As events began to unfold back in spring 2020, I realised there was a great opportunity for me to turn a bad situation into something positive. My busy schedule as a touring artist disappeared overnight, giving me a chance to focus my full attention on my music production.

Other than a couple of remixes, the last proper record I put out was a 12” on Youngsta’s label Sentry Records. The tracks ‘Vintage’ & ‘Slugfest’ were my first experimentations with garage / 2-step. The release was well received & sold out, but more importantly I had really enjoyed the process of writing the music. Feeling encouraged to continue exploring this new direction, I set about writing a batch of tracks around the garage / 2-step framework, attempting to infuse them with my influences from Drum & Bass and Dubstep.

These tracks are now ready to be released on Declassified as a series of 12” singles, kicking off with DCLSFD001, ‘Drawing Sound’ with ‘Cargo Dub’ on the flip.”

Berlin-based imprint Through These Eyes has been a leading influence in the deeper sounds of 160-170 bpm for years now, across the spectrum of halftime, jungle, footwork, drum & bass, and beat music. Featuring releases from Booms and Claps favorites like Digid, TMSV, Folding City, and Sun People, most of their sought-after exclusive record releases sell out almost instantly, and their well-defined, subtle approach to bass music is imitated by many but duplicated by none. Their art direction is cohesive and consistent in a way that many labels struggle to achieve, which is all the more meaningful when the quality of the music is there to back it up.

Their next release is from up-and-coming German producer, Modul8. We haven't seen much from him in the past, but his sound is unique and his production is clean. With the trio of monthly singles from TMSV, Samurai Breaks and THUGWIDOW introducing London-based imprint Sub Merchants to the scene in fine style earlier this year, they are pleased to share with you the final packaged EP 'Surrey Street', which concludes this release cycle exploring the contemporary evolution of jungle music. Included on the EP is a re-release of all three tracks, accompanied by remixes from Drumterror & B:Thorough, Groves and Fiesta Soundsystem.

Painting a picture of the jungle scene in 2020, ‘Surrey Street’ aesthetically pays homage to Croydon‘s roots within the scene, and features six sublime selections from some of the most exciting new names on the map over the past couple of years. You truly won’t find primer cuts this side of the River Thames.
