"Spacial Recognition" Press Release

San Francisco, CA – February 27, 2013, Loöq Records will release the full-­‐length album “Spacial Recognition” from bi-­‐coastal electronic production duo, Methodrone. This release is a reminder that deep, progressive electronica is alive and well amid the current mass of “EDM”, ElectroHouse, and other more hype-­‐driven genres.
 
“Spacial Recognition” is the 2nd full-­‐length album from Methodrone and marks the 6th release by the duo. The scope of sounds on this latest release make it instantly stand out from the current electronica landscape. From the opening note, the album wraps you in the Methodrone sound of layered, sophisticated electronic warmth.
 
"Entry Level", "Rise And Fall In The Bamboo Sky" and "The Things You Remember" open the album with a one-­‐two-­‐three punch of that dark, floaty goodness we've come to expect from Methodrone. Each track delivers a full, rich sound palate, with musical plot twists that surprise and delight. The crisp techno beats of "Stop Start" and "Forward Momentum" add brightness, and the heads down sounds of "The Other Direction" and "ElectroDynamic" show off Methodrone's underlying dance floor sensibilities. The album goes out on a downtempo, then ambient note, with the headphone-­‐worthy "Pale Blue Dot" and "Exit Level".
 
Fueling this multifaceted sound are the diverse musical histories of Methodrone’s primary contributors, Kramer and Scott G. The combination of Scott’s background as the co-­‐founder of the touring indie rock band Breather, and Kramer’s life as a well-­‐established DJ both factor into what sets the team apart. Always looking to push their craft further, Methodrone continues to reach outside the core duo to enlist creative talent to keep pushing the sound in new directions. Grammy Award winning bassist Bernie Minoso, singer/songwriter Jerry Fuentes and the production efforts from innovative dance music producers Royal Sapien (Bedrock) and Jason Randolph (Baroque, Sony) have all contributed to the success of the evolution in Methodrone’s sound, pushing it in new directions.
 
Following the release of “Spacial Recognition” Methodrone and Loöq will be releasing a series of singles that will include new remixes from a multitude of locations on the electronic music landscape.

It was another amazing year at DISTRIKT and I’m excited to finally be sharing my Saturday closing set.  As always, it’s a fun mix of my best tracks from the year, plus some classics and old favorites.  An amazing moment in time and one of the most incredible moments I’ve ever had in my 17 years at Burning Man, was when the dust storm blew in during my set while Lil Louis’ “French Kiss” was playing and along with it came thousands of dragonflies that swarmed the dance floor.  30 seconds later, it was all gone and the sun was shining again.  Quite a magical afternoon and I hope this set brings you back to that special sunset.   Enjoy! - Kramer

The Methodrone sound is wide ranging, everything from textured ambient soundscapes to energetic dance floor escapes. Refusing to be defined by any specific musical genre, Methodrone has built a catalog incorporating sounds, rhythms and influences from across the musical spectrum. It’s primary contributors, Kramer and Scott G, have diverse musical backgrounds that have helped guide Methodrone’s direction into a space that is not entirely electronic nor organic.  It is this blend of ideas that has helped Methodrone create a space all their own across the musical landscape.

Releasing a series of albums and singles with San Francisco based Looq Records, 
the music of Methodrone has sparked unique partnerships with seasoned musicians such as Grammy winning bassist Bernie Minoso and guitarist Jerry Fuentes. These types of collaborations have helped Methodrone create a unique and layered sound transcending the typical electronic music space.  At the same time, they have also worked with established dance music producers such as Royal Sapien (Bedrock) and Jason Randolph (Baroque, Sony) to produce solid dance floor-ready remixes. This ability to connect music across a spectrum of genres has allowed Methodrone’s work to find its way into international TV shows (CSI: New York), video games (WRC2), interactive projects (Intel, Jaguar-Land Rover), commercial use (ECOtality), compilation CDs and of course the dance floor.

Methodrone will once again showcase their innovative work with their third album Spacial Recognition early 2013 in addition to several upcoming remix projects.
