FREQUENCY UNDERGROUND INTERVIEW WITH WILL MCGLONE:

◾Real Name: Will McGlone

◾Current city: Johnson City, TN

◾How did you come up with your dj name: I use my name since there are not many people that have the same name. Will is actually my middle name (my first name is Timothy) but I have been called that since I was a child so I roll with it.

◾How and when did you get into djing: My love for electronic music started when I was 12. It started with a game on the PlayStation 1 called Wipeout. You could skip the first track on the game and listen to the music in your cd player. I had that on heavy rotation. At the time, I did not really know what style I was listening to but I just loved the game music.

 Later, when I was in high school a local radio station played this beautiful song that was like nothing I have ever heard. I remember calling the radio station and asking them to tell me what song was playing the space piano music. They told me the song was Robert Miles - Children.  

When I just turned 18 I started getting involved with the clubbing scene and a guy I met at a local club recommended I listen to Paul Oakenfold. I blindly went to the local music store and bought tranceport. The tracklisting led me to buying follow up cds by DJs such Sasha and Digweed, Pual van Dyk, and many more. I just fell  in love with the music and knew that was what I wanted to do. About 6 months before I graduated High School School (around 2000) I got my first set of technics 1200's and the rest was history. I remember a lot of my parents and my friends thought I was insane playing this music (little did they know).

◾Who are your musical influences and what is your inspiration: In the 90s I listened to a lot of Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, 311, Sublime, Verve, Bush, and pretty much anybody in the alt rock grunge movement.

As far as electronic music goes (I have too many to list), However, some of my biggest influences that currently come to mind are Robert Miles, Sasha, Digweed, Orbital, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Orbital. Rufus du Sol, Gui Boratto, Guy J, Dave Seaman, Stephan Bodzin, Luttrell, D-Nox & Beckers, 16 Bit Lolitas, Terry Grant, Ian O'donovan, Brother Tiger, Phealeh, Hybrid, Washed Out, The Howling, RY X, ARTBAT, Gui Boratto, Guy Gerber, and many many many more.
 
◾Describe your sound as a DJ: Most people label me as a progressive house DJ but I play a wide variety of genres. Anything from Deep house, Techno, Progressive, Organic House, Afro House, and even Trancer Stuff. If there is one common theme, I tend to play melodic and hypnotic kinds of tracks.  

◾What does the future hold in store for you as an artist: While life has been busy, my goals are to write more music and play in some new places. I have played around with the idea of rebooting my record label "element underground"..

◾Genre tag for mix (I like to let the artist label their work)

I honestly am not sure what genre this mix is. I am guessing it is progressive or melodic techno but that is a bit subjective to the listener.
