[XTC003] VILLA - Get On Up (DJ MELL G Remix)

For the next musical offering by London based producer Shawn Cartier, he delves into a different sound across 2 tracks, which mould his existing hard hitting electro centric tracks with a more modern and emotive framework, slowing down the pace and raising the energy.

The release opens with “Lemon” which is the more melodic of the 2 tracks. Rich arpeggiated synth lines rip through quirky mystical pads while all being grounded by a pumping rhythm section. This track also features Shawn’s keen use of sampling as seen by the progressive guitar section to close off the composition.

The last track “Revival Police” adds a ripe dancefloor functionality to the release. Huge warping bass tones and dancing aquatic melodies meet with a wailing 303 to complete this one. One for the middle of a set to get the arms in the air.

Cette compilation est le fruit d’une résidence artistique de 3 jours organisée par Electronic Consortium et Dans La Zone à Rennes.
« Organics Matter » incarne parfaitement l’énergie qui a pu émerger durant ces 3 jours, et plonge l’auditeur·rice dans un voyage aux confins d’un monde SF teinté de rythmiques DnB, de breaks, de groove trancy, d’ambiance ghettos et autres styles futuristes.

IMOGEN returns to Sunil Sharpe’s Earwiggle imprint, this time with Ben Pest for their first full release together, ‘Volts’, out today. Over the four tracks, the pair showcase their diverse style as crossover the realms of raw techno and UK hardcore, channeling volcanic energy. ‘Shibooty’ is a perky take on Chi-town techno with cartoonish vocal sequences, humming bass and elevated funk levels. It’s a groover!

IMOGEN is a resident at NTS and fabric and has previously released on femme culture, HE.SHE.THEY, Lobster Theremin amongst others. Bristol-based artist Ben Pest has collaborated with Radioactive Man, made appearances on Off Me Nut, Riot Radio Records, and Asking For Trouble and released under the OverworX moniker.
