A personal mix of sorts..conversation piece..art project..rollercoaster ride.

Masterminded, manifested, assembled, and recorded by Mez Matos intermittently within a 3 month span (Jan-Feb-Mar ’17) using 2 Technics SL-1200 MK5s, a Pioneer DJM-S9 mixer & Serato DJ Pro

Process as follows: 

1st draft - skeleton of original base recordings / songs slapped down live and organic (inc. loops, pad play on the Pioneer DJM-S9, harmonic pitch shifting, phrasing, blending & mixing)

2nd draft (post) = additional samples, acapellas added, thus creating all new remixes, revamps, re-edits & mashups

This is a heartfelt vocal revamp of a remix.

From the 2:09 mark to the end, i added my own vocals, backing vocals and suttle vocal samples.

At the moment i first listened to Clark Kent's amazing remix of the Birdy track which is a gorgeous cover of 'The xx' in itself, i fell deeply in love to say the least..So beautiful yet powerful, melodic, mystique and EPIC.

As i heard it, i was compelled, driven, determined subconsciously as if a higher force was controlling me like a puppet to write the vocal bridge, backing vocals and rhyme verse at the end, all as if in a zombified spell.

I was in a numb state of sadness and despair, hypnotized by a woman who's soul piercing beauty is beyond captivating..It was Clark Kent's remix that drove me with victorious confidence to shed a new light on a simple melancholic mission that is both passionate and sexual in it's own right.



Side Note:

HUGE props to Birdy and Clark Kent for such mesmerizing work and of coarse 'The xx' (where would this be without you?)..and 'finally' that mysterious woman who gave me inspiration to do this...I thank you divine goddess :-)
