Name: Sic Semper by Martín Francisco Mayo
Duration: 6 min 20 s
Description: Commissioned for the 2025 Wonderfeel Festival. Performed by the Ragazze Quartet.

For the women and babies who were treated so atrociously in the mother and baby homes under the Magdelene Sister Launderies In Ireland.

Our feet are left shackled
Ireland has failed us
Our pain has no justice
God may be with you but not with me
Do not fall to their feet
Fall to feet of the women whose hands are torn and backs are broken
With the weight of our sisters and fathers
Who have failed us too.

Mijn Nieuwe Raam

As told to me by Phyllis Marks of Glennville, West Virginia. She heard it at a folk festival some years back. I added a bass part to the story.
