We are proud to present you our second compilation from the south of the world, this time featuring artists living or that used to live near volcanoes. This is how Steffen Ki got inspired for his track "Baila con Fuego" (Dancing with fire) living in Guatemala and Andi.Andean and Manu Ela's tracks produced and composed in Berlin, but with the energy from their experience living time ago in Pucón near the big Ruka Pillán volcano.

We hope you enjoy this as much as we did while collecting and curating the music for this new release.

“Tierra de Volcanes” es la serie de compilados que Quinto Fuego comparte y cura anualmente buscando sonidos, ritmos y melodías inspiradas en los volcanes.
Este segundo volumen compila una serie de obras creadas por artistas que viven o han vivido en algún lugar con presencia volcánica alrededor, sintiendo el poder y energía que emiten estas enormes calderas magmáticas, que tantos significados y mitos tienen para distintas culturas.
A igual que el primer volumen, el compilado trae obras influenciadas por el Ruka Pillán, su velo blanco y sus araucarias milenarias, como es el caso de Llama y Crisocola. Además destaca la participación de Steffen Ki con su track Baila con Fuego, inspirada en la nueva aventura de este productor alemán por los volcanes de Guatemala.

On the back of his album Natura Sonora, Shika Shika co-founder El Búho offers up a refreshing new direction on this four track EP Tón Tón, exploring the concept of organic dem-bow. These tracks are inspired by the idea of taking a now global and commercial beat but seen through El Búho owl-ish lens, mixing his trademark natural sounds, laid-back beats and mix of electronic and acoustic samples.

The release kicks off with ethiopian jazz inspired opener “Get At You”, a nod to saxophone legend Getatchew Mekurya, before going deep into a driving collaboration with Chilean producer DJ Raff featuring scattered vocals and whirling saxophones. Sol y Tormenta features Ecuadorian MC La Mafianadina providing her kichwa flow to the Siku-bow beat. The EP ends with the refined electro-swing-bow of Marti.

Tras su álbum Natura Sonora, el cofundador de Shika Shika, El Búho, ofrece una nueva y refrescante dirección en este EP de cuatro temas, Tón Tón, en el que explora el concepto de dem-bow orgánico. Estos temas se inspiran en la idea de tomar un ritmo ahora global y comercial, pero visto a través de la lente de El Búho, mezclando sus característicos sonidos naturales, ritmos relajados y una mezcla de samples electrónicos y acústicos.

El lanzamiento arranca con "Get At You", inspirado en el jazz etíope, un guiño a la leyenda del saxofón Getatchew Mekurya, antes de adentrarse en una colaboración con el productor chileno DJ Raff en la que se mezclan voces y saxofones. Sol y Tormenta incluye a la MC ecuatoriana La Mafianadina, que aporta su flow kichwa al ritmo de Siku-bow. El EP termina con el refinado electro-swing-bow de Martí.

Fragments of warmth and sadness intertwine between the cold stone and fading echoes, tracing paths lived and never forgotten. Beyond the horizon, the light silently gathers, enveloping time within itself, leaving only the pulse of memory suspended between what was and what remains.

American musician Laraaji is one of new age's most distinctive, prolific, and charismatic artists. Since first gaining exposure in the early '80s after a chance meeting with ambient innovator Brian Eno, who produced the landmark release Ambient 3: Day of Radiance (1980), Laraaji has released countless cassettes and albums, ranging from the mantra-like synth pop of Vision Songs, Vol. 1 (1984) to the extended drones of 1987's Essence/Universe. A master of multiple instruments, Laraaji primarily constructs his lengthy, meditative soundscapes from an electronically altered zither, hammered dulcimer, kalimba, synthesizers, piano, and other instruments, as well as natural sounds and vocals.  Additionally, he has collaborated with several electronic, experimental, rock, and dub musicians, including Japanese dub crew Audio Active (The Way Out Is the Way In, 1995), Bill Laswell (Divination's Sacrifice, 1998), and Philadelphia duo Blues Control (FRKWYS Vol. 8, 2011). In addition to his musical career, he is well known for his Laughter Meditation Workshops.
