Well acquainted with underground music dens and eclectic grooves, Steve Sonius has been a mainstay of the Sydney scene as a DJ and promoter going on 35 years. A core member of the Bag Dog collective alongside Annabelle Gaspar and Bill Cotsis, Steve is just as comfortable pushing downtempo grooves as he his holding down a headline set at Mad Racket.

For his excellent Tempo Comodo set back in August, Steve weaved his way through a wide array of slow-mo cuts before settling into a nu-disco vibe. A prime snapshot of some of the sounds you can discover at 77’s weekly Thursday night series, in this mix you’ll hear from Ron Basejam, Tycho, Nicola Cruz and many more.

Evolved from Phil Smart’s innovative and well received ‘Slow Dance Experiment’ concept, Tempo Comodo is a new party series further exploring the slower realms of danceable beats. From 70bpm downtempo to midtempo chug, anything under 120bpm is fair game as long as it's made for dancing! Getting down to slower tempos opens up a whole new world of space, rhythm and movement. Come and join the slow dance revolution as we venture deep into a diverse musical universe of varied subgenres, influences and styles. Expect slo-haus, post-nudisco, chillrave, chuggy low-slung grooves, and any slo-mo superlative you can throw into the mix.
