M A R R Y  K L E I N  Let`s Turn The Tables ! 

“...when the percentage of women on one of the big festivals reaches 10% - than that is already a lot”, says Susanne Kirchmayr (female:pressure | Vienna). And she knows what she is talking about because it was female:pressure who gathered the data in two surveys in 2013 and 2015 - with shocking results.

THE MOTIVATION
The misproportion of women to men is not only a problem on the level of company management. Whether in visual or performing arts - there are significantly less women present than men. MARRY KLEIN wants to call attention to this topic by exclusively presenting female artists for one whole month. Now obviously Harry Klein specializes in electronic music and nightlife. So this is exactly where we begin.

MARRY KLEIN is not a completely new idea as we already introduced her succesfully in 2006 and 2007. Projects, Initiatives and Festivals like PERSPECTIVES in Berlin then gave us the Inspiration to reintroduce Marry. So after a creative break, we brought Marry back in 2014. Since then she is part of our yearly programme. The Intention is not to blame but to take action and create passion. With this project we simply want to raise awareness.

THE PLAN
With the huge success and fantastic feedback from the media throughout the last years we are now planning the upcoming edition of MARRY KLEIN. All March through there will exclusively be female artists performing at Harry Klein. Music, Lights and Artworks - everything is being brought to you by women only. In addition to all the night time fun there will be room for readings, workshops, discussions, films & more.

THE GOAL
MARRY KLEIN can also be understood as a call to action for all the female artists who have not yet dared to present themselves to a broader public. Under the banner of diversity, cultural richness and equal opportunities we want to conscientize people for this topic, set an example and maybe even inspire.
