Episode 22 of the Miami After Dark show features a discussion about the news of public corruption coming out of Hialeah, a city nearby to Miami where the mayor has been fined for ethics violations related to loan sharking allegations as well as the continued development of normalization between the US and Cuban governments. Billy Corben (@BillyCorben) joins us as guest host while regular host Bob Powers is on vacation and currently sailing through the Straits of Magellan. 

Joining us by phone to discuss the story of Hialeah Mayor Carlos Hernandez is Miami Herald Writer Jay Weaver. Weaver writes, "Hernandez got caught in the alleged lie about his series of exorbitant loans to jeweler Luis Felipe Perez last year, when he testified about his 36-percent-interest terms at the tax-evasion trial of former Hialeah Mayor Julio Robaina and his wife, Raiza." Subsequently, Hernandez was fined $1,500 for lying in public about the loans he made.
