The artist scurried through the underbelly of the great megalopolis he called home with practiced ease, weaving through underpasses, alleyways, and densely packed streetsides alike as he journeyed back to a locale he had noticed in brief passing some days before. Its aging brick facade had stood out to him, forgotten amidst the forest of steel and glass that shadowed the alleyway in which it lay. Upon surface materials such as those, the pigments he would use to ply his trade were necessarily chemical in nature, a concoction specifically brewed to cling to such sleek, smooth surfaces. Brick, by contrast, was a rarity. Its porous and often deeply weathered surface allowed for all manner of ancient organic pigments to be used to mark its surface, and as such the artist treated the mortared canvas now before him with a ritualistic reverence. 

Drawing a long thin blade from within his backpack, the artist ran its delicate edge down the length of his left arm, letting the most vital of pigments well up through the thin fissure upon his skin. Then exchanging blade for brush he began his work, bringing life to his newest canvas with the energies of his own.

MOB TACTICS return to EATBRAIN with BLOODBUCKET, a three-track EP with which the veteran EATBRAIN duo unveil their latest works to sate the sonic bloodthirst of the label’s horde.

TELEKINESIS return on powerful form to the EATBRAIN label with 5 tracks of a truly insidious and tearing nature in the NO BRAIN, NO PAIN EP. The pseudo-friendly eerie nature of ‘Slime Gland’ leads the way, with nostalgic synth lines and airy pads punctuated by sharp steppy percussion. The amen-laced structures of ‘Meanwhile’ build into a lean assault on the ears with a bassline in a deep stealth profile tucked tight against the beat. ‘No Brain, No Pain’ delivers a schizophrenic and penetrative sonic influx, leaning towards the comedic but retaining an overwhelmingly destructive form. ‘Wipe Out’ carries the powerful vocal of Eatbrain MC favourite NUKLEAR, whilst ‘It Could Be a Trap’ completes the EP with an effective and exceptional half stepper that seeks to obliterate everything in its rave-fuelled path.

Following ‘The Nightwalkers’ EP that saw them win over the Eatbrain fanbase in 2013, Slovenian production crew Telekinesis have gone on to dominate the European drum & bass scene with heavy touring and an ever-growing fanbase. Opening with staggered, rapid-fire basslines and sparkling synth arpeggios, the uncompromising “Outlander” soon hurtles toward a frenzied drop. Dominated by gnarled, saturated basslines which warp at a breakneck pace, the song is garnished with syncopated kicks, bursting snares and pitched percussion. Making deft use of dynamic range, it lulls into a tense, ambient breakdown before striking again with the same gravity and with a number of new twists and turns to boot, making for an intense number in a similar vein to last year’s popular Clamps collaboration “Discrise”.

Established in 2005, in Galati, M.I.B. began its career in Graffiti, hardly resisting among haters and painting city walls. Receiving fines over fines or being chased by police and special forces, the crew slowly shrank, frequently changing and losing members, eventually reaching only 2, namely MKE (Jahh Roland) and TRT (Oldskull Fanatiks). By the way, the adrenaline changes shape and the location it’s administered at. 
Turntables, consoles, mixers, power stations or speakers that shake your lungs; MIB kick off 2012 in a new era of electronic music (of course, not giving up the world of Montana Hardcore, graffiti remaining the active basis with which we started to be more than friends).
