Columbus Stockade

I first heard this lovely old song on Radio Two's Folk Programme and knew, instantly, that it would be great for Larry Law and I to do. We quickly learned it and had a great time with it too! This version, taken from the Open Stage Session in The Cornish Chough's at Camborne on Dec 22nd 2013, may not be the best I've ever done of it but the sheer exuberance of my fellow musicians' contributions, in particular, Mr Adrian (Chocolate Fingers) O'Reilly, makes it a must to post. Other musicians also involved include: Thorn & Roses, Stephen Hunt, and Tony Shaw. Messrs McCreadie and O'Reilly just might form part of 'The Biscuiteers' and may be heard on several other musical sites.

I heard this done on The Transatlantic Sessions last year and just loved the sentimental feel of the whole thing. Because Tom Palmer and I had been looking at arranging some country music songs last year I decided to try and make an arrangement of my own. I have to 'fess up though and admit I had quite a bit of help with the piano, it's not me playing that!

Candyman

The incomparable Tony Capstick singing "William Taylor". A fabulous singer and one of the funniest performers I ever saw perform live on a stage. Not too tall but a giant of a man, a good friend, generous and kind. I have memories of us spending a week end in Ayr - whilst I was working for Scottish Aviation and Tony was guest artist at The Folk Club in The Caledonian Hotel there. (I won't relate the story here but it'll be in my book!)What larks and what a boon companion! Sadly missed even now.

Casey's Last Ride

The smashing Michael Snow 'drinking' song I learned from Noel Murphy 'way back when he and I were collaborating and doing a few Concerts. I truly did indulge myself with the recording of this song because I'd recently bought a 16 track digital recorder and, of course, wanted to get as much on as I could - it might be a tad overcooked - but I don't care - I thoroughly enjoyed the process. This was all done around 1996/7 - as far as I remember.
