On March 26th, 2014 the Brooklyn Attractors, including Victor Axelrod, Andy Bassford, Larry McDonald, Brett Tubin, Dan Jeselsohn, Eddie Ocampo, Buford O’Sullivan, Anant Pradhan, Luke Penella, and Rich Graiko came together to play a show at the Shapeshifter Lab in Brooklyn, NY. Thankfully the audio was captured by the crew at Shapeshifter Lab and subsequently made available for release. This became “LIVE IN BROOKLYN”, the ATTRACTOR’S sophomore album and a rare hifi glance into the modern underground NYC Jamaican Jazz scene. The following is the unedited audio from that evening.

Amy Winehouse ft Alborosie-sweet guitar remix

“Halftime” was a favorite on Lioness, the posthumous, Amy Winehouse odds-and-ends album 
that turned up late last year. (Not to take anything away from her great reggae version 
of “Our Day Will Come” or anything). Produced by longtime collaborator Salaam Remi, 
“Halftime” had more of a ’70s soul feel than we’d ever heard from the typically 
’60s-oriented Amy, and it worked. There’s always room for improvement, or at least 
another take on things, though. So it is that Italian reggae artist Alborosie has gone 
ahead and put yet another spin on “Halftime,” reworking the tune in a reggae style.

This song was released as a single in September 1971, becoming a breakthrough hit for Bill Withers, reaching number six on the U.S. R&B chart and number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Horace Andy teams of with Studio One on this cover laying down the definitive version.
