This set was recorded LIVE at The Bounce 2013 on 3 cdj's and a Pioneer mixer WITHOUT the help of any beat sync technology. The crowd was recorded on external condenser microphones and mixed in post production to transport you into that moment, and make the mix feel more alive. 
I would like to thank Steve, Kim, Bryn, Lisa, Coop, Jugoe for the graphics, the whole crew of The Bounce festival, every Artist/musician, the people who made it possible by attending and dancing their asses off, my Tahoe family (you know who you are), and my beautiful Fiance Sarah....sometimes the only bright smiling face in a sea of blurred souls.

DJ QBert Boiler Room SF Live Set

Second year in a row bringing in the new day during the 4th of July festivities, and I still cannot believe how epic it keeps getting year after year during the closing of the CAMP festival. This year we came fully prepared with an array of live singers and musicians for my set. Kicking it off with Tory Stolper and myself performing our track Surya Rising live, to having our sunrise electronic dance music sermon delivered by the talented writer and poet Lauren Ducrey, and flanked by the A-Team with Noah & Mendeleyev.

3.5 hrs flew by, and as we still had to Burn the majestic Sloth effigy built by the talented Jacob, I decided to keep the closing sunrise affair measured under 5 hrs... LOL. (Maybe next year we will push a little longer into the daytime vibes...)

Thankful to Brad, Gil, Sarah, Therapy Sound and all of the people who tirelessly set up this magical fairy forest stage for us to weave musical magic. 

This was one of the most meaningful morning for me, thank you for coming along for the ride. From darkness to light and all of the ephemeral magic that exists in-between. <3

Mr Ruxpen has moved through the ranks of San Diego's underground music scene for the last two decade's.  Known for his "sweet and salty, light and dark" twist in any genre.  He has earned the respect of San Diego's elite DJs and promoters as a sound engineer by trade and a DJ by night. Mr Ruxpen has been working behind the scenes with top acts and huge productions for the past 20 years, which has enabled him to be inspired and schooled by the best in the biz. Currently living, and Doing Sound in N.Y. , his horizon, and influence continues to grow. Known to freestyle and cross many genres in one set, don't be surprised to hear amazing tracks from breaks, to drum n bass, from indie to fidget to techouse and beyond..

    Lake Tahoe……….specifically South Lake Tahoe in the summer of 1998 was an amazing time for house music and ALL my friends were into it……so I started collecting hip-hop records, named myself DJ sWiTcH and taught myself how to scratch and mix ANY place I could find a pair of technics. When I finally got a set of my own decks I melted most of my record collection in an unfortunate (yes I cried) ultra violet experiment (the sun in the back of my girlfriends Camaro). I gave in to that wonderful 4 on the floor that kept calling to me and fell in love with Deep House. 

     Just a smidgen of copyright infringement after a record release prompted me to use my real name “micah" and the first initial of my middle name “jason” to form (drumroll please) micah j. For the last 19 years I’ve been collecting deep house, deep and dirty breaks and, in most recent years, an insane amount of ghetto funk, keeping me diverse and ready to rock any festival, nightclub, outdoor or pool party any a you mo fo’s can throw at me (yes that is a dare).

     I could give you a list of my crowning achievements, big acts I’ve opened for, countries I’ve played in, celebrities I’ve f@&%ed……….BUT THAT SHITS BORING. All I’m gonna say is if your partying on my dance floor, get ready for a chunk of dirt sprinkled with funk, making every set a new and exciting experience for the DJ and the dance floor……..engage
