Live cuts recorded on the second night of a weekend performance at the world-class Jazz at the Bistro in St. Louis, a premiere listening room. The concept of the show was to push the envelope between the strict jazz format of the venue and Big Mike's soulful blues style. The resulting recording features a handpicked one-time lineup of heavy-hitters on the St. Louis and international music scene, including Joe Meyer (drums), David Grelle (Hammond B3 and Piano), Nathan Hershey (Hammond B3 and Piano on "So In Love"), Gus Thornton (Bass), Aaron Chandler (Trombone), Adam Hucke (Trumpet) and Bob Bennett (Saxophone) along with an unusually boisterous crowd bending the strict house rules of propriety and polite listening--after all, it was a fish fry... The record kicks off with several showcase instrumentals and wraps up with knock-out vocal performances of several precious gems that are rarely heard live on stage. For those who attended, it was a night to be remembered. For the rest of you, the music is yours to enjoy.
