Dillard brings a surreal LP to Gravitas Recordings April 14th 2023.  Full of organic textures, trippy sound design and a calming but upbeat feel, this release speaks for itself and brings out something special for anyone.  Dillon always puts so much effort into his releases and the listener’s journey, this time speeding up the tempo and diving into new territory in a flawless way.  With massive support on all his recent releases, he has gained a strong following of listeners patiently awaiting his next masterpiece.  Each release has so much intention and breaks barriers in the electronic and bass music community.  Dillard stated “It was a very cathartic experience being able to pour so much experience & emotion into this album, but then again I try to put just as much effort into all of my releases :)”

Cubic Nest opens up with beautiful strings and an organic soundscape that continues over heavy bass for a perfect downtempo start to this journey.  Botany Agent continues this sound with added ethereal vocals and a driving kick and drum pattern to build the energy, creating an epic build that teases something big coming and perfectly setting up the title track.  Garden Mother takes this energy and quickly drops into a catchy beat that is impossible not to move to with perfect guitar plucks and foley, this track is captivating and continues to build into a heavier second drop with added bass and scratching.  Way She Goes brings the energy back down with an epic intro of beautiful strings and Dillard’s signature sound, with a more glitchy feel that is somehow heavy and light at the same time.  Blue Flame dives into the calming side of the LP and continues the downtempo journey from the previous tracks, with flawless sound design and an enchanting soundscape.  Far Focus continues more glitchy organic sounds while creating more energy and tension with perfect breaks in the drums, he uses quick silent moments to peak the listener’s ear and give an upbeat feel to a trippy and laid back track.  Flight Plan opens with trippy old school samples of an LSD research experience, and builds into the heaviest drop of the release.  The track before perfectly sets up this and feels like the peak of the LP, while still maintaining the overall style and showcasing a heavier side of his bass sound design.  Technicolor further elaborates on this style with nostalgic vocal samples and a heavy but light drop that is more stripped back to focus on the groove, creating a perfect closing to this journey through Dillard’s sound.

Wrote this one on a rainy day here in Santa Barbara, California. Was feeling the dark, chill, melodic vibes. Big shout out to Eleia for recording such vibey vocals.

Played this for the first time in my set at Envision Festival in Costa Rica and it went over quite well. Been playing it almost every set since.

Savej’s ‘Solstice’ gets a ceremonial reimagining from Ruby Chase June 20th on the summer solstice.  This song is the title track off his 2020 album and has been a huge staple of his discography and the Savej sound that fans resonate with for years.  Ruby Chase gives a fresh new feel to the song without compromising the original’s beauty, carefully adding in her ethereal tribal vocals and production.  With hints of Deya Dova and worldly instruments, this new idea blends with Savej’s deep south bass in a very powerful way.  Both artists have been paving strong journeys in this music scene and using their artist projects to do good in the world and in the cultures that inspire their music; this release is another step in that journey and  is very intentional to set the summer solstice vibe!

As the final track of "The Zen Aquatic," "A Song Of the Whale" holds a special place in my heart. This song is a tribute to the majestic whales that inhabit our oceans. Creating "A Song Of the Whale" felt like a natural conclusion to the journey of "The Zen Aquatic." Throughout the album, I've explored the beauty and complexity of ocean life, and this track brings it all together with a powerful message. It's more than just music; it's a call to action, urging us to recognize the threats our marine life faces and to take steps to protect our oceans.

Dive deep into the emotional currents of this song with me. Let it inspire you to join the movement for cleaner oceans and stronger protections for marine life. "A Song Of the Whale" is my heartfelt plea and a fitting finale to "The Zen Aquatic," leaving us all with a sense of responsibility and hope for the future of our seas.
