CELESTIAL OBJECTS (2016/2025)

Originally heard as a solo electronic 'work in progress' at a Scottish Arts Trust concert in May 2023, "Celestial Objects II" was re-drafted and finalised with a significant organ part made for Lauren Redhead & Alistair Zaldua to perform in a concert during their residency at the 2023 Festival Registri in Venice. Here is their performance on 27 October 2023 featuring the 1745 Nachini organ in the Chiesa Isola di San Servolo.

The electronic part is punctuated by a 'phaser choir' singing short sequences of chords around a powerful 64' reed drone, over which the organ delivers slow-spreading clusters of light.

The piece has been performed many times subsequently in Europe and the UK by other artists and was broadcast on Spanish National Radio in December 2024.

CELESTIAL OBJECTS II (2023) (Live performance Lauren Redhead & Alistair Zaldua)

The third and final constituent of my "Celestial Objects" trilogy, this time for organ alone. Starting and ending with B as its tonal centre, a meditative rotation of chords is heard in four musical 'paragraphs', undergoing various permutations along the way before reaching a grand, extended coda.

CELESTIAL OBJECTS III (2025)

'Arc of divine cacophony'. Premiered on 21 September 2016 by Automatronic at the Hexham Abbey Festival of Music & Arts. Subsequently performed at the Canterbury Festival 2016, North York Moors Chamber Music Festival 2017, St. James United Church Montréal 2019, Ypres Cathedral 2019 and broadcast a number of times on Resonance.fm (UK), Radio Onda Rossa (Italy) and Concertzender (NL).
