This track will be one of the bonus tracks of my upcoming first (industrially pressed) CD "Ombra - ReVisited".

The whole "story" of this release will be told somewhere else; as far as this special track is concerned:

It was conceived and produced back in late 2009, as part of the sessions of the original "Ombra" album released in early 2010, but not included therein.

It is one of my rare tracks to feature lyrics, spoken, in this case - a surreal poem, that goes like this:


I.

the silent word that lay sleeping 
beneath the silken sheets has risen;
like a phoenix, like a rocket - like a flame...

above the darkened river, 
above the waiting frames 
of cities bare of people,
of widows, bare of pain.

a cold wind travels with it
along the silver line

the child inside lies waiting
and the child's name is: time...

so, we walk behind the green gras...
so we walk behind this line
while the child keeps sleeping,
while the child is feeling fine

we dance among the furnace,
among the stars - a little while,

and we open up the shrine...


The Shrine ("Ombra ReVisited" bonus track)

Seduction is one of the tracks for "Your Second Shadow" - the bonus album that comes with the "special version" of the (main) album "Ombra - Revisited"

The special thing about "Your Second Shadow" is that it is personalised, which means unique for each person who orders it. 

The personalisation works like this:
I have created two "pools" of music - one containing 5 hours of rhythmic and melodic pieces, the second containing 30 (!) hours of longer drone ambient tracks.

For each "instance" of YSS, I compile one hour of music from pool one, and add one long ambient track from the second pool. Each single album is different from any other, still they all come from the same "reservoire" of music, that was especially created for that purpose.

"Ombra - Revisited" was released on the cozy little label BI-ZA-Records...

Seduction

This track is my contribution to a tribute radio show in honour of Tangerine Dream founder Edgar Froese, who passed away this January - and who was one of my biggest musical heros.

Several listeners who missed the show did ask for this track, so here it is.

There are no final plans yet, but perhaps it will be included later this year in a memorial V/A compilation, and maybe also on a  free album dedicated to Edgar...

P.S. Oh, and there was a little confusion about the title, but this one, "Everlasting Footprints - Radio Version" is the correct and final one...

Instant Retro Space Hit (or whatever) - Rough Mix

The other day I started to create new (or modify some old) sound sets for my little Blofeld synth which I'm going to use at the café performance in Berlin next Saturday, with Bernahrd Woestheinrich and Volker Lankow.

To test the sets (and also to rehearse a bit) I always noodle along merrily, and sometimes record some of that - like here...

The challenge here is that I will got to Berlin by bus and therefore can only take minimal equipment with me - so I have to operate the Blofeld just with a tiny old MIDI keyboard with rudimentary functions, which means that it's a bit tricky to stir more complex settings using multiple sounds on different channels etc...
Anyway, I thought the result was quite pleasant, still...

Playa Imaginaria (improvisation with new sound set)

In two days from now I'm going to play live with two friends, synthesist Bernhard Wöstheinrich and percussionist Volker Lankow, for a small audience in a little café in Berlin-Kreuzberg (which I'm looking forward to a lot! ) and as it's my habit before such events, I prepared a choice of sounds the other day(s) and toyed around with these - which You might call "rehearsing"  - although the word might suggest that I rehearse specific pieces, which is not the case; rather I improvise with the limited pallette of sounds which I consider to use at the event, to get a feeling for what I might do with them.
This track actually consists of four longer improvisations I recorded yesterday evening: the first performed with various virtual synths from my laptop, the rest all done with the Waldorf Blofeld alone...

Of course, the concert will sound considerably different, because Bernhard's and Volker's contributions are (obviously) missing in my noodlings; also the "Blofeld only" bits are a bit sparse, I guess, since the synth has a limit of how much sounds it can generate - at some moments You can actually here it starting to falter and distort...

ASTRONAUTS is a new series of anthologies on Jack Herz' AURAL FILMS label, featuring electronic space music artists inspired by the NASA moon landing and exploration of the universe...
Each artists is invited to submit music from throughout his or her career. I have chosen to create two 60 minute mixes of older material, some dating back to 1994, plus one hour of previously unreleased space music from 2019. For the bigger part, I concentrated on the sequencer driven kind of sound many EM enthusiasts see as the core of the genre - here are a few brief excerpts.
