Kidzen is an alias of heavyweight Sydney musician, composer and bass player Cameron Undy. Nominated for the 2006 Australian Jazz Artist of the Year award, Undy’s history of playing over the last 15 years reads like a who’s who of jazz, having recorded and shared the stage with greats including Mike Nock, Sam Rivers and Don Pullen.

Cameron has also been closely involved with artists fusing jazz with abstract dancefloor beats. He can be found in the credits for titles such as Verve Remixed, on labels including Ubiquity, Compost and Giant Step and has toured the world and recorded with top producers such as Mark De Clive Lowe, 4Hero, Bugz in the Attic, Megashira, Nathan Haines, Seiji and Kabuki.

Split across 2 discs (album + remixes) the album features a formidable cast of musicians including Carl Dewhurst, Gerard Masters, Felix Bloxom, Ian Mussington, Phil Slater, Matt Keagan, Fiona Johnson, together with vocal contributions by Inga Liljestrom, Pat Powell and Kye.
Kidzen’s splintered beats and unconventional time signatures unapologetically challenge the listener while rewarding us with a vision of someplace new and very special. Euphoric, dense, twisted and sublime, the album concern’s itself little with fashion, instead bearing a timelessness punctuated by the underlying genius of a brilliant and important contemporary composer.

Equally compelling is the second disc of dancefloor re-interpretations by a selection of producers perhaps similar to Undy in their refusal to be afraid of taking music somewhere new. The remixes are an album unto themselves with substantial contributions by Jamie Lloyd, Deepchild, Domu, Rephrase, Jimi Polar, Peret Mako and Betaville Orchestra.
