Engel der Hoffnung (Guitarversion)

Hello everyone,  

One of my first songs here on SC was an instrumental lullaby. From the very beginning, I had the idea that it could be sung. It was only thanks to Haru that this became a reality. Haru Spring asked me to write lyrics in Japanese and to let her sing them in her language. I thought it was a fantastic idea. For me, the voice and language are equally instruments, and I love going on musical journeys of discovery. That’s why I rearranged the piece.  

I’m thrilled with how Haru wrote and performed the lyrics, and I feel deeply honored to have been able to work with her. Thank you so much, Haru!  

How might the song sound in other languages with different lyrics? I find the idea fascinating and invite you to arrange the song in your native language. If you’re interested, feel free to reach out to me.

This song started as a rough recorded by Tez on his acoustic and electric guitars. He also wrote the lyrics right off the bat, and introduced them to the rest of The Eclectic Collective by singing them as a rough, too. His vision for this was to create a song that sounded like it could've been recorded at Headley Grange. He also wanted it to feature instruments that wouldn't sound out of entirely out of place in Feudal Age Britain (between 1000-1600 C.E.) to carry the spirit of his lyrics.
  Tez always writes songs that are fun to learn and have cool changes, so the we all jumped in with both feet. Ken was first up with his Bonham like big, bad beat. To that, Josh added his P-bass, which he used a plectrum on, something he rarely does, trying to sound like JPJ to match his Ken's energy. JJ came along next, adding his colourful mix of raucous organ, time period relevant Celtic flute, and outro bagpipes. He did the entire outro, in fact, including the "off with her head," line, too. 
  Once the music was all laid down, Tez tapped Mark to sing the humorous lyrics. Mark came through with flying colours on the vocal performance, as always, too. Mark also added the textural, boingy-sounding jaw harp in the chorus sections.
  Now that it was all in the can, Two of our master producers Tez and Mark mixed it, then asked the third, Stephen, to do the final mastering. It should be noted, too, that Mark also contributed significantly to the production, too, with his masterful editing skills.
  This was a really fun tune to put together, as we always have fun working on Tez's seeds. He is telling the tale of lust between two Feudal era peasants. Of course, it's rife with ribaldry, being as Tez is British. We hope you enjoy listening to this a much as we enjoyed creating it.

Feudal Woman Blues - The Eclectic Collective

Between July and November 1916 one of the most harrowing events in warfare history took place , the Battle of the Somme . In a largely pointless campaign , only 6 miles of French land was reclaimed , the British had 420,000 casualties , the French 194,000 and the Germans over 440,000 , a very sobering thought ! The people who gave the orders said to the men " We're right behind you " About 35 miles from the front in relative safety , not exactly right behind the men at the front risking their lives , what a waste of British , French and German souls . This is the story of a mans journey to the front , and having told that sad tale I do hope you enjoy it ! Back with a Xmas song on the 20th , and Charlie and the Fox finish the year off on the 27th , loads coming up in the New Year !
