Soma are proud to present the debut album from one of the most exiting Techno artists to spring out of the French scene in recent years, Charles Fenckler. A chance happening across his Soundcloud heralded some fine results for the Soma camp as back in 2014, the 20 year old Fenckler, exploded onto the label with the finely produced ‘Anklam’. Sporting such a mature sound for someone so young, his profile has been creeping up over the past 2 years, quickly gaining fans throughout the Techno community such as Jeff Mills, Marcel Dettmann, Josh Wink & Alan Fitzpatrick. His latest release in early 2016, Frozen Room saw him return to form after a short hiatus with the title track taking the scene by storm. With his debut album, Diving From The Void, Fenckler looks to continue his meteoric rise through electronic music.

Fenckler takes a heady dive straight into things as opener Voices In Your Head, with it’s droning yet uplifting quality, seeps eerily through before Immersion starts to up the pace of the album, it’s pounding kicks and percussive workouts sitting atop a glistening, acidic melody. Charles continues on an old school tip as the wild Stellar Acid comes hard and fast, complete with powerful breakdown moment. The rave inspired Frozen Room, already a massive hit from the youngster, clatters in once again as Charles then give a nod to UK-breakbeat with the contemplative Estrange. Things get back to techno business quickly as Flirting with Disaster & Subject X103 come thundering through but still, Charles brings an emotive element with both tracks laden with polished, ethereal pads. Originally released in 2015, District Two makes an appearance with its straight up, driven 909 percussive workout. The Unknown brings an air of minimalism with its sparse synths and groove laden drums whilst Anxiety’s sweeping drones and foreboding atmospheres follow before
the galloping Raven closes out the album at a ferocious pace

Charles has certainly explored all facets of Techno throughout this album and for someone still with much ahead of him, the future is certainly looking bright for this talented young Frenchman.

TWR72 is back with a full new story starring Lucid as the lead. Lucid dropped out of space on a world called planet earth. It's luminous and vivid appearance were instantly clear. At first Lucid was a bit reserved but during it's first steps it opened up and showed some colorful emotions and hints of it's personality. With detailed patterns of communication Lucid tried to find a way through this new world. Erudite, which was already for a more prolonged time on planet earth, picked up the incomprehensible code from Lucid and reproduced it into a solid and clever message. Erudite was keen enough to think of a way to communicate back with Lucid as it noticed Lucid needed help. But it needed someone else to bring the message to Lucid. So Erudite asked help from Colloquial who could easily transcript the message back to Lucid. Colloquial used different types of frequencies to connect to Lucid, but it wasn't that easy. Lucid already travelled further and was hard to reach. Therefor Colloquial tried to use heavier elements to make a more solid composition. Unfortunately not only positive things arrived from space. Aporia was a rather negative influence which disturbed the link between Colloquial and Lucid. Aporia tried to force the communication by continuously changing the elements of the message. But it wasn't all that bad, because at the end Aporia brought the two important elements of the message together.

AFR debut for Belfast based producer Koichi who delivers a solid pack of disruptive, cerebral Techno back by a pan galactic remix from the illusive Post Scriptum.

French duo Kas:st line up the second part of their double EP, this time delivering a collection of remixes that includes the rhythm assault of Anetha’s version of ‘88.88’. 

A resident of Blocaus, Anetha has been a rising talent in the Paris scene who has released on Work Them Records, Anagram and Reclaim Your City. Now she steps up to offer her rendition of Kas:st’s ‘88.88’ by increasing the rhythm with a more prominent top end while letting the deep bass lay a foundation. 

Kas:st’s ‘Dysphoria I Euphoria’ was released at the tale end of 2016 and is given new life with the ‘Chapter 2’ remixes. Detroit DJ and producer Luke Hess also offers his expertise as well as Setaoc Mass and AWB.

‘Dysphoria I Euphoria (Chapter 2)’ is released via Flyance Records.

Soma Records is inarguably one of Techno's major forces in 2017 and since it’s inception on the streets of Glasgow, Soma Records has stood for uncompromising quality of the highest level in every area it operates. Label figureheads Slam formed the label in 1991 together with friends Glenn Gibbons & Dave Clarke and subsequently forged one of electronic music’s most widely known and well-respected labels. Soma quickly began to develop its own sound with classics such as Slam's timeless ‘Positive Education’ and helped launch the careers of many great artists like Surgeon, Envoy, Funk D’Void, Silicone Soul and Alex Smoke as well as the discovery of French duo Daft Punk who released their first rudimentary, raw outings on the label back in 1994.

With their eyes firmly fixed on a vision of the future, Soma began the quest to instil their unquenchable passion and thirst for electronic music onto the world around them.

Box Set:
Soma have enlisted the likes of Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, Steve Bicknell, Andrew Weatherall (appearing as Woodleigh Research Facility), Blawan, Adam Beyer and more to provide brand new musical excursions for today's dance floors and beyond. These, coupled with many of today's new, up and coming names in the techno genre like Kobosil, VRIL & Jonas Kopp choosing their favourite tracks from the Soma back catalogue to remix sees Soma’s futuristic vision remaining strong with the celebration of 25 years being one of a forward thinking nature rather than one of nostalgia.

Ostgut’s Kobosil brings Slam’s ‘Visions’ into the prevailing drone-ebbed world, the veiled VRIL douses the timeless X Track by Percy X in his dubbed out demeanour and Jonas Kopp’s EBM workout of another Slam classic, ‘Stepback’ creates the standpoint for the project: “Always forward, never back”. Jeff Mills’ provides otherworldly connections with ‘A Tale From The Parallel Universe’, Weatherall delivers future/retro acid and Josh Wink unleashes a 9min epic dance floor burner. Robert Hood provides a straight up, fast paced dance floor workout; all coming together to form the collective consciousness of the Soma attitude. Slam deliver ‘Tempest’, a track that perfectly sums up the whirlwind last few years the pair have enjoyed as they continue to be at the forefront of the global Techno elite. Completing the assemblage of original tracks is Soma’s own Funk D’Void, bringing his unique brand of jacked up electronics with ‘808 Planet’.

Visual Construct:
In accompaniment, Soma decided it was necessary to match the unique musical sensibilities displayed. This led to collaboration with Scottish artist Kyle Irvine. His highly detailed, powerful yet delicate illustration style is truly unique. Each design was handpicked by Soma especially for the box set, which features exclusive Soma 25 Logo stickers, a poster and illustrated vinyl sleeves. Each individual sleeve has its own story line with enigmatic characters including Lantern Man and Little Bo, who live in a dimension beyond our own. Look out for Kyle’s designs on the Soma25 remix singles and forthcoming, limited edition clothing lines produced in conjunction with Forty Clothing Glasgow.

Manchester natives Cleric and Reflec return to their collaborative project Works Unit for the second EP. Works Unit 002 is a production that sees the best of each of artists unique styles flourish, reestablishing the original Works Unit format to bring you three memorable club heaters. Insulation One is a lesson in balance, with it's uncompromising, driving rhythmic form complimented by a cold, hypnotic, restless melody that is sure to get peoples attention. The B side sees host to Insulation Two, a late night groover backed up by an emotion-drenched pad typical to the Works Unit style. Rounding off the EP is the 'Acidic Edit' of Insulation Two. Placing the uplifting pad on the back-burner, the Mancunian producers exchange it with a relentless acid line that varies in intensity throughout, subtly transforming the original rhythmic style and moulding the track a fierce peak time heavy-hitter.

Soma records release this Silicone Soul remix album on 21st May with an array of new versions of a back catalogue spanning many years on the Soma label. The success of the last, eponymous Silicone Soul album shows here with four tracks from the album remixed alongside much earlier Silicone Soul work.

Opening the album is Matthias Tanzmann’s remix of Right on, Right On. Tanzmann is renowned for his crowd-pleasing DJ sets and intelligent and grooving productions the world over. In his remix he strips back the original to its percussive elements and delicately layers the strings and vocal samples creating a winning mix of a classic. 

Included in many of Silicone Soul’s recent South American sets and off the back of his first album for Poker Flat, Alex Niggemann, along with Marc Poppcke, remixes The Snakecharmer providing a seamless collaboration and energetic, yet playfully dark track towards the end of the album. 

Others such as The Spirals, The Black Dog and Sascha Funke have become firm favourites in their DJ sets and proved to be very much part of the Silicone Soul ethos.
