Michael Fries is an awarded, 30 year old, New York based Lyric Tenor. Michael is known for his sweet lyric tones and depth of sound. Michael has often been compared to Josh Groban in quality of voice, except his style is slightly ever more Italianate and/or Irish in quality.   His voice has been called “A cutting Tenor Voice” when reviewed for his Opera performance of Basilio in Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro. Michael's accomplishments include winning Long Islands 2007 106.1 WBLI Island Idol competition winning a prize of $5,000 for his pop vocals. Michael’s renditions of Josh Groban favorites led him straight to a %60 to %40 victory over his competitors.  Michael has also won awards and competitions for his powerful classically trained vocals. Michael's rendition of the tenor aria "Il Mio Tesoro" from Don Giovanni won him the 2009 Binghamton Concerto Competition while he as attending the University for his Masters. Michael, as a classically trained lyric tenor vocalist has been seen in several operas, primarily with Binghamton's Tri-Cities Opera Company.  Michael has traveled all over the world from Ireland and France, to Switzerland and Spain; performing in such acclaimed venues as the Montreux Jazz Festival.  Michael is frequently requested by MLB teams to perform his rendition of the Star Spangled Banner and/or God Bless America before over a dozen different MLB games in baseball fields around the country.  One of Michael’s primary focuses is his singing as a ministry. Michael, a self-professed Christian is also is hired by Christ Church Oyster Bay as a Tenor Section Leader. The Choir director, Michael Haigler often remarks that “the choir isn’t the same without Michael”.  Michael, in Christ Church has often been featured as a soloist in many works including Beethoven’s 9th, Handel’s Messiah, Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, also in many art songs and aria’s.

After 2007, with the winnings from his Island Idol Competition, Michael invested his effort and winnings into the study of audio recording and composition. The recordings on this site are all the result of that study. Michael believes thoroughly in seeing the completion of his projects to the end and ensuring that many dimensions of an artistic endeavor are all intentional choices by him.  Since the inception of his desire to record himself, Michael has been involved in various projects as a recording artist.  In 2006 Michael became involved with a band called Feriz Blue later named Truth Table which released the album, available on iTunes entitled Truth Table – This is Not A Casino. 
 Michael studied vocals at C.W. Post Long Island University under the direction of acclaimed Vocalist and Voice Teacher, Tom Goodheart. Tom’s methods emphasize ease of facial or throat tension coupled with unwavering diaphragmatic support. The results of this training come through in Michael’s performances and sound.
