Anthology is the true reimagination of our original Adagio and Agitato String collections – hand-designed with our favorite 66.500 samples from both collections.

Anthology contains both Ensemble, Divisi and Solo String sections for both Violin(s), Viola(s), Cello(s) and Basse(s). All recorded exclusively with grand Neumann microphones – inside a rare church recording environment. The three sensible microphone positions (Close, Mixed, Far) offers you full mastery over the sound. 8Dio Anthology Strings "Skybreak" (feat. Laurie Ann Haus) by Troels Folmann

I composed a 10 minutes tribute to my unrivaled favorite composer and greatest inspiration Thomas Bergersen. 
It's by far my longest and most ambitious track to date, a piece dedicated to the master shall not be anything else! It was a piece written for his birthday, 4rth of July. So, the Happy Birthday part at the end won't be appropriate for most days of the year haha.

I hope it feels somewhat connected and cohesive. There are so many ideas and musical shades in there and making the changes/sections feel entirely connected is not quite in my capabilities yet.  
The title is of course a pun on American Dream but the piece is 100% serious. In fact I completed it just now in the evening after a sleepless night and being kept awake by energy drink and coffee. 🥴

The piece is loosely based on notes of the Norwegian Hymn and Happy Birthday (later in the track both become more explicit).  
Which means it gets kinda awkward when it goes full on HAPPY BIRTHDAY in the last part but just imagine it's the 4rth. 😉 Just can't post it by then. 

By the way, the "happy birthday" weird signing is me recording myself several times in my staircase 😛. + A virtual choir that I forced to sing along. 
I'm really happy I pursued the idea writing this now somewhat awkward birthday tribute and - well it got a bit out of hand and blew up into a 10 minutes monstrosity. A wonder where  heard that terminology before...? 😉 (inside nerd joke)

Parts of the track are meant to be derivative - I consciously referenced pieces or musical elements/devices of pieces by Thomas. I usually don't write in such a derivative manner at all, but in this case it's the intent of the piece.

Michael Maas is an award winning powerhouse of electronic trailer & production music. Born in 1983 in Germany he was a multi-instrumentalist from the age of 6, and although his early musical education was fundamentally classical, his style is undeniably modern. Fusing mind-bending sound design with pulsating electronic and orchestral compositions has become his trademark, and has won him numerous placements on major-league trailers and TV spots.
