Ancient people relied on myth and ritual to heal the wounds of culture and draw upon the renewing energies of nature. Myth and ritual touch the entire person, spirit and mind, body and soul. In the eye of the soul nature and culture are secretly woven together, so that working with one requires engaging the other. There may be no better time to reclaim and relearn the ancient arts of myth and ritual in order to assist with the healing of nature and the renewal of culture.

This workshop will draw upon the redeeming functions of myth and ritual as vessels of imagination and regeneration that can open new ways to see the world and new paths to follow.

Agents Of Creation Workshop Introduction

Beginning with the frustrations of cultural conflicts including: fundamentalism, literalism and opposed ideologies; Meade takes up the soul's cry for a multiplicity of ideas and a diversity of beliefs. Using mythic imagination and alchemical ideas, he reveals how conflicts and oppositions are essential for the ongoing creation of the world as well as for a genuine redemption of the individual.

An Eskimo story, The Mistress of Fire, shows how solutions for both personal and cultural problems require the sacrifice of our unconscious, infantile attitudes towards both spirit and body. Meade shows how received ideas from others and fixed ego attitudes restrict and distort our instincts for survival and for shaping vital communities. Beyond that, he redeems the role of pleasure in life and reconnects the flame of libido to its origin in the spiritual realm. In addition, he echoes the soul's passionate struggle to ignite the divine spark of creation again and its life-long effort to love and be loved.
