O.M.M.

This is written to be performed for any saxophone but the premiere was done on a tenor saxophone (for which I did not get a recording). It was written in memory of my Grandmother who had passed away several years before.

Lament For Saxophone

This was written for my impressions of the primary colors (in order) blue, red, and yellow.

Primary for Piano

I wrote this piece in a minimalist style and it reminded me of rain. It has been performed twice. Once with four people each taking their own line and once in a simplified form for two people.

Rain for Piano Four Hands

I wrote this with a pastoral idea in mind. At the time I was performing and listening to a few pieces by Percy Grainger.

String Quartet No. 1

I wrote this in response to my first ever public performance. It was a wind quintet that was horribly botched due to a miscommunication from the lead player and the rest of the group. I wrote this for myself to perform with a fellow student in undergrad. The title, which may or may not be proper Latin, is darkness and light. I was getting into octatonic scales and harmonies which is heavily used here.

Tenebrae Et Lumen for horn and piano

I wrote this for my master's recital and in a way for my wife. It is a piece that attempts to use the twelve tones of western music equally but not in a twelve-tone way. The opening line is an expanding chromatic line that uses all twelve tones and then is varied from there.

Theme For Oboe

This is the first piece I ever had performed in public. Written for wind quintet I had the idea of a nature scene that gives way to a carnival or dance.
