“I Feel Alive” is a powerful narrative from the perspective of suburban ennui. The juxtaposition of rising above at ones lowest ebb.
 
The band is made up of Jon Shaban on guitar and vocals, Ryan McArthur on double bass and backing vocals and Jon Case on drums, as well as frequent collaborations with female vocalists. Each musician brings their own flare and flavour to the music, adding to the uniqueness of their fresh ‘’High Quality Folk Punk” sound. Having gigged extensively across South Africa and Europe for the past 6 years they deliver a tight, captivating set that blends sincere, melodic sing-a-long folk with the raw energy and DIY ethos of punk rock. 

Drawing influences from artists such as Frank Turner, Erik Petersen and Against Me!, the band never ceases to get a crowd to throw their fists in the air and sing along to their anthemic tunes which have been described as honest, raw and easy to relate to. Since the release of their debut album “Folk is Dead” in February 2016 they have toured relentlessly around South Africa (performing at festivals like Rocking The Daisies, Mieliepop, STRAB, Park Acoustics and FORR) as well as three very successful, 6-week European tours (UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Rep, Belgium) where they were favourites at festivals like Mighty Sounds (twice), No Borders No Nations, Earthquake and Ziva Ulice.

"Things I Said" by Michael Plesa

Lugosi died of a heart attack on 16 August 1956, while lying on a bed in his Los Angeles apartment. He was 73. The rumor that Lugosi was clutching the script for The Final Curtain, a planned Ed Wood project, at the time of his death is not true.

Lugosi was buried wearing one of the "Dracula" cape costumes in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California. Contrary to popular belief, Lugosi never requested to be buried in his cloak; Bela G. Lugosi confirmed on numerous occasions that he and his mother, Lillian, actually made the decision but believed that it is what his father would have wanted.

The Strange And How It Feels Like To Burn Without Fire

Lead singer Jana Hjalgrimsdottir describes the song as: “Calling it Out is about facing what is pulling you down in life, and then having the courage to cut free from it, even though it can be difficult and painful”

The music is exploring the tension between dreams and desperation, and draws a line to early goth and post punk, but is also forward looking. Fremmand is fronted by the charismatic lead singer Jana Hjalgrimsdóttir, who with her all-in attitude is like the volcano Vesuvius erupting.
