It was produced with the sounds of a Cwejman S1 MkII only, recorded into Cubase using a Safesound Audio P1 preamp and a RME Fireface 400 interface.
Vocals were recorded with an Avantone CV-12 (Advanced Audio Apex 460 mod) -> Safesound Audio P1 -> Apogee One (1st generation) -> Cubase.

Cwejman S1 MkII only - Under My Skin (Cwejman's 80s  Remix 2023)

This track is kind of a remix of the song "Sterne", originally part of the album "Im Augenblick" - originally released in December 2013, available at I-Tunes, CD-Baby, Amazon etc. 
I left the vocals out to demonstrate the possibilities of a Model D Minimoog in an electropop-context. I used a late model with stable oscillators. Not mastered - the recording might sound quiet in comparison. Mix isn´t competed yet.

Sterne - Minimoog Model D

Originally made in 1995 on July 15th using an Ensoniq ASR-10, a Kurzweil K2000S, an Access Virus A and a Yamaha AN1x this is a remake from 2024. 

Most original sounds are still in the track, only the bass and bassdrum were replaced, the typical intro lead sound and some arpeggio were added and the production ist more up to date.

In 1999, 2 years before my debut album „Time to Speak“ at A Different Drum Stardust was one of the tracks I promoted WAVE IN HEAD with at MP3.com and my own website. The lyrics are mainly about fame and my perspective to that subject at that time.

Years ago I had approached the song again but never finished it. Now in 2025 I finally reworked the whole song and made the best possible version out of it.

In 1999 I wrote and produced this song and published it at MP3.com, which used to be THE place to be for alternative musicians,
hoping to attract some label interest.
Now, 26 years later I`m not concerned in fame anymore. What remains is the love of music and the will to share what I ´m excited about.
So don´t take the lyrics at face value. Their meaning is worn off and nothing more than a fossil reminding me of my past.

Stardust 2025

"Stardust" was released in 2000 on a sampler. At that time I subscribed a contract that I would´t use this track for a couple of years. Meanwhile 15 years passed by. while re-recording the playback I noticed that the technology of the year 2000 was´t too bad in comparison to my current setup.

This is a preview of the WAVE IN HEAD remix I made for the fantastic new single from Johan Baeckström. Johan is making music in a perfect early 80ies synth pop feeling which Vince Clark was famous for when he worked with Depeche Mode in ´81 or with Alison Moyet as Yazoo.

My remix was made using the ARP 2600 through a System X filter and a Model 15 synthesizer for most of its parts.

Dunkle Energie

This is a small piece of music made with a Model 15 Synth only. Club of the Knobs in Spain is building fine copies of the Moog Modular Synths originally made by Moog in the 60ies. Apart from that they produce a growing number of innovative modules which haven´t been in existence before. The sound of the Model 15 is legend. While Moog Music is offering 1:1 copies of their old systems in a limited edition, there are some features in this Model 15 that make life easier while you work with it. For example there are normal trigger inputs, so you can trigger it from any analogue sequencer. The sound is said to be the same. You might be able to verify if you have the opportunity to access an old or rebuilt Moog Modular. Club of the Knobs delivers high quality. Communication is a bit slow though as this enterprise is a small one and a few people are doing everything.

Nerd info: 
All sounds are made with an orange ARP 2600. Apart from that a Steffcorp VCF-12 was used to alter the sound towards a Tonus - ARP characteristic. Therefore a bunch of the tones and noises use the Steffcorp filter instead of the 4072 filter which was bypassed. 
One short bass / arpeggio was created using the hard sync facility of a Frequency Central VCO MkI.

Some nerd-infos: 
Most sounds come from my ASR-10 sampler. Drums : Waves Alchemy - Revolution. Some pads and atmospheres from a Kurzweil K2000. The metallic pole-sounds were made with a Kawai K5m. Deep bass from a classic Minimoog. Studio Electronics ´s ATC-1 sang the synth solo and some noise sweeps and vocoder like rhythm elements came from a Cwejman S1 MkII. Vocals were recorded through an Avantone CV-12 / Safesound Audio P1 / Apogee One (old version)into Cubase 8.

This is what happens when you don´t save your work in time. This work-in-progress-version of "With You" got lost due to a Cubase "feature" in association with a tired mind back in 2002. This recording only exists because it was backed up on tape at that time. And the tape stopped before the song ended. Sh.. happens. BUT NOW it turned out I HAVE a full length version left !!! Miracle !

Das passiert, wenn man seine Arbeit nicht rechtzeitig sichert. Diese Arbeitsversion von "With You" ging verloren wegen einer Cubase "Funktion" im Zusammenhang mit einem ermüdeten Geist im Jahre 2012. Diese Aufmahe existiert nur, weil sie damals auf band aufgenommen wurde. Und das Band stoppt kurz bevor der Song zu Ende kam. Sh.. happens. Aber jetzt stellt sich heraus, ICH HABE eine Version in voller Länge !!! Wunder !

Achtung ! Was hier wie Musik anfängt, ist keine !!! 
Dies ist eine Gelegenheit, sich im WAVE IN HEAD Studio (chen) umzuhören - ganz ohne Anspruch an Musikalität. Wer immer wissen wollte, was ein Cwejman S1 MK2 Synthesizer so macht, findet im Netz nur wenige aussagekräftige Demos. Ich füge hier ein ebenso wenig aussagekräftiges Demo hinzu. Was man hier aber gut erahnen kann ist, dass diese Maschine für sehr verschiedene Aufgaben taugt. Die Aufnahme ist mit Ausnahme von etwas Echo trocken.

This is an opportunity to listen around inside the WAVE IN HEAD studio - without any musical claim. For those who want to know what a Cwejman S1 Mk2 synthesizer can do there are only few significant demos online. I add another meaningless one here. At least you can evaluate what tasks a Cwejman S1 might be good for. The recording has some digital delay added but is apart from that dry.

Dieses Lied gab es 2 Jahre zuvor mit Englischem Text ("Animals"). Für die Veröffentlichung auf dem Debütalbum "Time to Speak" entschied ich mich dann doch für eine Deutsche Überarbeitung. Hier auf speziellen Wunsch von Cordy Carstenseine aus der Facebook Familie.

This song is the German version of the English predecessor "Animals", which was made 2 years before the release of the debut album "Time to Speak". "Wie Schnee" was part of the debut. I uploaded this on request of Cordy Carstenseine from the Facebook community.

I remeber that I used a Virus A for the thick bass sound and Rebirth on Windows for the drums as well as Ensoniq´s ASR-10 for additional drums and pads. Native Instruments Generator and Studioelectronic´s ATC-1 play a role too. And there´s a Minimoog Model D (resonance -sequence + some FX sounds). After 14 years my memory is a bit washed though.

This song was part of the limited edition of WAVE IN HEAD´s 3rd album "For A Special Moment", which is more than sold out now. Original - owners are lucky because they can listen to it without MP3-data reduction.

If you think of the Pro One you should automatically think of Yazoo. "Only You" was said to be an only Pro One song made by Vince Clarke in the early 80ies. The Pro One can perfectly play back the "Don´t Go" lead sound. As this is shown before (search the net for it) I do without all this and let you listen to some sounds that came to life here in my studio.

The 1st minute is actually 2 sounds. The Pro One to the left and the orange ARP2600 to the right. As you can hear their filters act very similar. Both are modulated by the same mix out of the ARPs voltage processor and fed into the ARPs output section. The Pro One filter is cleaner though with less character but more bandwidth. It responds to filter FM very interestingly. At low resonance settings it produces harsh EBM sounds. This is something my orange ARP is not capable of. May be because of poor slew rates (one reason why I think over the filter fix mod which sets it back to the actually great factory specs ARP originally applied to earlier models of the 2600).
