3rd Degree launches his debut album Connected with the high-impact first single, "Feel It Coming", set for release on My.Co.Records this year. 

Built around an infectious drum groove and bouncing percussion, the track delivers bold synth basslines, hypnotic lyrics, and tight synth hooks that wrap around the vocals without overshadowing them.

The surprise twist comes courtesy of label head Micko Roche, whose distorted, soaring guitar work injects raw energy and attitude into the track throughout.

"Feel It Coming" is a confident, genre-blending statement of intent — merging live instrumentation with electronic edge, and setting the tone for what's to come on Connected.


3rd Degree is the brainchild of Waterford native Jason Burns, a seasoned musician with over a decade of touring experience in various bands and projects. Known on the dance music circuit as a respected vinyl selector and DJ, Jason created 3rd Degree as a fusion of his two musical worlds: the raw energy of live performance and the precision of electronic production.

Blending organic instrumentation with digital textures, 3rd Degree crafts a sound that sits confidently between alternative dance and electronica, while staying rooted in the rock, funk, and jam band traditions that shaped Jason’s early musical identity.

Primarily a guitarist and vocalist, Jason’s foray into electronic music began during his time fronting the jazz-funk/disco outfit The Silk Road (2018–2020). The band released two acclaimed EPs known for infectious basslines, tight drum grooves, and bold synth work layered around catchy hooks and lyric-driven vocals. That experience sparked Jason’s deep appreciation for synthesizers and keyboards, helping shape the sonic foundation of 3rd Degree — always with an unwavering focus on groove.

This groove-first philosophy naturally led Jason to the dancefloor, where he became a regular figure in the Irish electronic scene as part of the Locker 43 collective. Hosting parties both locally and nationally, the collective has spent years honing their instinct for what truly moves a crowd.

That understanding is at the heart of 3rd Degree’s debut album Connected, due for release in summer 2025 on My.Co.Records. The album is packed with percussive energy, hypnotic rhythms, and features additional production from label boss Micko Roche, whose gritty, attitude-laced guitar work leaves its mark across the record.

Sunset Sessions 17 - Glastonbury Special

Waterford indie/alternative dance artist 3rd Degree is set to release his new single “For The Night” on Friday, September 26th, 2025 via My.Co Records. The track is the second glimpse into his forthcoming debut album Connected.
A collaboration with label boss Micko Roche, “For The Night” pushes deeper into the darker, underground edges of 3rd Degree’s sound. From the opening moments, moody textures, sharp synth stabs, and a hypnotic bassline set the tone. Smacking drums and playful synth bass lock down the groove, while 3rd Degree’s reverb-soaked vocals add a melancholic, psychedelic touch.
Roche’s guitar work — now a defining part of the project’s signature sound — cuts through with heavy modulation and attitude, weaving seamlessly into the swirling synth layers as the track builds into a haze of textured electronic energy.
To accompany the release, photographer and videographer Kieran Power has crafted a striking music video, drawing on raw footage from Ireland’s breakdancing scene. The visuals perfectly mirror the track’s dark, underground energy, cementing “For The Night” as a bold step in 3rd Degree’s journey toward his debut album.

This kooky tune was conceived in the smoke-filled uni-jam sessions of these two Irish mateys. Inspired by their youthful view on the world, they marched to the beat of their own drum to make something truly special. 

The result is an earthy mixture of ethereal Celtic flutes bleeding into hazy Middle Eastern melodies, all underlaid with hard and heavy drums. This is the kind of kaleidoscopic mix of sounds heard back in the day at the sunsets of the Cafe Del Mar Ibiza. You can almost see the light on the water, taste the cocktails and feel that magical vibe…

And it might never have come to light if destiny hadn't stepped in, reuniting the boys - a little wiser, even more widely travelled - to recapture the magic together, now, some twenty years later

And the dub… Welcome to the jungle, dark, deep, and vibrant - just waiting to be explored.  

Label head Jim Breese deconstructed this mesmerising tune and fed their heady beats into FX units and delays. He recorded the twisted sounds that came snarling out, and after one long session of expression and experimentation he found sense in the madness and built this gloriously dark and trippy Balearic Dub from the ground up.  

Tribal beats play with percussive bass tones. Wild rhythms grow amongst swelling congas. This is the perfect tune to get lost in.

There are a lot of memories in Sunflower, a lot of good times.

So sit back, close your eyes, and dream...
