And although I like many of these variations, from the more ambient and chord-focused interpretations to the dry, atonal and polyrhythmic percussively  focused productions, I've been getting a sense lately that something is a little wrong. By this I mean since a certain point there has been a development towards a generic sound and format that somehow seems very superficial bringing the same flat and trivial sounds thrown together and promoted as  "Dubtechno"  and to me, often it seems like fast food compared to the original models. There is even  talk of a new wave. Both the production and the way it is presented seem somehow cheap, random and arbitrary to me. Often it is difficult if not impossible to avoid being interwined with these developments if you are enthusiastic about the often amorphous genre that is now labeled Dubtechno. 

Don't get me wrong I am not saying that there is no place for this "new sound" but the more I reflect on my enthusiasm - from my first exposure to dub and its techno hybrids, through rhythm & sound and through sound system culture in the late 90s to my renewed immersion in recent years, I realize that I should use the terms Dub and Dubtechno more and more carefully - coming from a place of a certain respect and appreciation. Because often these genres, carry a lot of cultural heritage, standing for a level of quality in delivery that in reality is hard to develop, and often lost to the disposable imitation economy we are beginning to see more and more of, which only serves to dilute things to an accepted average.

To me a big slice of what is promoted as Dub or Dubtechno these days falls well short of these original benchmarks that were set a long time ago. 

Through many conversations about these topics, reflecting on different perspectives, a mix was created recently where two fellows, I can call my friends, and I combined 3 sequential sets of 7 tracks each, to rest with and pay a little respect to some of the more remote but still relatable facets of dub in different ways. It's completely natural for styles to evolve and mix. It's great  to see with how much creativity and depth some artists do this.  And that's what this mix should stand for.

Solitary Echoes.

In the void, there was Sound, a lone whisper adrift in the infinite.  
Before light knew its name, before time took form, Sound breathed.  
It vibrated, not to be heard but simply to be—an ancient murmur,  
carrying the weight of a universe yet unborn.

Sound wandered through silent realms,  
caressing the cold dark with its gentle touch,  
yearning for an ear, a voice, a kindred pulse.  
Silence was its shadow, its ever-present ghost,  
a quiet that smothered yet never truly met.

Among the stars, Sound sought resonance,  
but light moved too quickly, too bright,  
leaving Sound alone with its soft, eternal hum,  
a song unheard, a note unheld.

Sound sang on, a single echo in the endless dark,  
hoping that one day, somewhere,  
something would listen, something would reply.  
Until then, it lingered—timeless, patient—  
the first voice of a universe still dreaming.

Bio/
Aritomi started his musical activities as an FM radio DJ in the mid-90s on local French radio. He began his electronic music project when the radio had to close down in the late 90s. Initially, it was a simple experiment with sounds made on limited equipment. 
The style has evolved over the years, from House and Techno at the beginning to a more minimal blend of Deep, Ambient, and Dub Techno, but it is still quite melodic. 
Living in Japan since 2000, Aritomi has performed DJ sets at "Echo Chamber" events, Dub Techno parties organised by Tsubasa Arakawa, and released EPs, tracks or mixes on Zero Signal Records (Altone's label), Hello Strange, Solar Phenomena, Slope Point and Piranha Siberia Dub.

Aritomi

Hydrous is Per Christian Berg. A producer and DJ based in Oslo, Norway. Working within music as a sound technician/producer as well as having a number of musical projects across a wide range of styles and expressions, ranging from ambient and psychedelic rock to psy-chill and techno.
With his project Hydrous the focus and style is rooted in the hypnotic, psychedelic and atmospheric side of techno. Drawing a big part of his inspiration from nature, especially the nordic scenery, as well as meditative states. Bringing these threads of inspiration throughout his productions as well as DJ sets.

Recently released his third EP “Mutabor” on Charybdis as well as working with and releasing on labels such as Navigare Audio, Indefinite Pitch, Lotus Parable and Soria Records

Biography:
OPS is a producer and DJ based out of North East Texas that dabbles in Jungle, hardcore, dub techno, deep house etc. depending on his mood. He bought his first turntables in high school and has been an avid record collector ever since.

I thought i would post another studio recording... As always, the lyrics and music and written by myself (Michael Sinclair), and it is produced and mixed by Brian Giffen.

  Well, this is a song I recorded in July 2013... I really like this song, and had always wanted to make a song like this... I would describe it as House music or Deep House... I have always been a massive fan of Dance music, and it would be my favourite genre of music... I have been hugely inspired by artists such as Kerri Chandler and Todd Edwards, and enjoyed making my own Deep house track... I had made two versions of this, but this is the more radio-friendly version... I hope everyone likes this, don't forget to like, and spread the word! :D
