HUMAN SACRIFICE

Typewriter Sonata was a song I wrote in 1977.  Years later with the advent of the internet I was able to collaborate with several musicians on-line from around the world.  Of course, today our younger generation are not familiar with those old antique things we called typewriters.  This song is dedicated to all those typest who typed millions of documents with a typewriter.

Writing songs for the preachers on the borderline.

I drank a lot of whisky-I smoked a bit of dope
i had a whole lot of fun on a slippery slope,
I was a villain once , in my own pantomime.

an old man will turn into a butterfly.

I don't drive a car and I don't eat meat
I wear plastic sandals upon my feet,
and everything I try to hold-well it's not really mine.

shedding my skin on the borderline.

I bought a guitar and I wrote myself a song,
I've got this dislocated feeling that I don't belong,
but if you ask me how I'm doing- I'll say 'I'm doing fine'
I'm just biding my time- I thought I saw Bob Dylan on the borderline.

I've marched with the lovers and the great oppressed,
I kept the red flag flying but I was not impressed.
My alliance lay, not with this paradigm.
I'm biding my time-counting the soldiers on the borderline.

I sold myself to a woman for a music-room,
I was dragon-tense, she was strange perfume,
but the gods of love- they deemed this a crime.
Now I'm just biding my time- trouble with a woman on the borderline.

Pilate's Dream is from Jesus Christ Superstar written by Andrew Lloyd Weber & Tim Rice.  It is my arrangement with some of the introduction of music being original.  It is a haunting song and a great example of writing by Weber & Rice in setting just the right mood with music.
