PREMIERE: Dirty Supercar - Body Slam [The Disco Express]

»Aftermath« is the fifth single from Vienna-native and Hamburg-based producer / visual artist Alith Berndarn, which comes out in 2020. This is also the fourth release of the long-anticipated EP »Lucid Scent«.

The track »Countable Infinite« by A.G. Trio is the main influence of the piece. The record »Samurai« by Bonobo is another inspiration for setting the soundscape of »Aftermath«.

»Aftermath« can be sonically seen as an Experimental Electronic Piece with House vibes. The piece immediately starts with a girthy bass sound, surrounded by haunting vocal chops. The short break down that is accompanied by the artist’s signature sounds: the chirping birds accentuate the transition into the first main section of the track. After the eerie breath FXs set in, the rhythmic intonations in the forms of the ubiquitous percussions and the subtle drums are engulfing the listener’s eardrums. These are accompanied by a crunchy bassline, a set of circumventing vocal fx and echoing lines of a vocal hook. A euphonious chord progression adds the last dime to the whole picture. The track’s intense moments can be heard especially in the sections from 1:06 min to 1:23 min and 2:35 min to 2:49 min.

The notion behind »Aftermath«:
“....Aftermath is about the feelings I had while realizing that I was finally taking the first steps into a new section of my life. After moving away from my home city Vienna, and beginning a new job in Hamburg, Germany, I was just feeling the aftereffects of the new chapter in my life: A mixture between endless joy, nervousness, the fear of losing sight and coevally the amazement of knowing what comes and what could come next. Being a student for years and stuck in that mindset, it was frightening at first sight but incredible on second sight. Hence, this piece is the aural definition of haunting thoughts on failure mixed with the energetic feeling of being into a new section in life.”

Push The Button #71 Beach Vibes Back to the Studio

DJ Michael van der Knoop, a native of Amsterdam, discovered his passion for music at a young age. In 1983, he received his first pair of Technics turntables and a Dateq mixer, marking the beginning of his journey in the world of DJing. Throughout the 80s and early 90s, he became a familiar presence at local parties, renowned venues in Amsterdam, and even ventured overseas.

After a hiatus of 12 years, a close friend persuaded Michael to return to the DJ scene for a momentous occasion - his 40th birthday celebration. Unable to resist the call, Michael embraced the opportunity. However, he recognized the need to adapt to the advancements in DJ technology and familiarize himself with modern equipment. Determined to deliver an unforgettable performance, he dedicated himself to mastering the art of mixing once again. To this day, he remains confident that rekindling his passion was the right decision.
