In the Wake of Tides (Michaël Vancraeynest)

As a pianist and composer, I have been bringing sound and emotion together since my childhood. A classical education at the Lemmens Institute laid the foundation for my career as a pianist, composer and music educator. My work resonates in film, theatre and concert halls and was also awarded the ‘Prize for Best Young Composer’ (2003) and the ‘Grand Prize’ of the USA Music Competition (2021), among others.
Today, I enjoy combining classical craftsmanship with digital innovations to bring music to life, both live and online. I have also been commissioned to compose for Koor&Stem, Stringfun, Classics for Kids, Koorklank and Concertgebouw Brugge, among others.
With the East-End project, I collaborated with CC De Grote Post and involved young people living in poverty in a musical theatre production. With Home@Xmas, I realised a large-scale production in collaboration with GoneWest. In 2024, I created unique choral works for the Ensor Year in Ostend.
My mission? To create music that touches, tells stories and connects people.
