I went out for drinks with this girl from Tinder a while back. She was cool… until she wouldn't stop talking about Fred Again being “the best DJ to ever walk the earth” (no shade Fred). I eventually say “I actually make music too, we could go to mine and I’ll show u a little.”

We get to my place and I ask her fav (non Fred Again) song. She says “that new Jack Harlow one.” I rip the acapella and drop it in Ableton.

10 minutes in she puts her hand on my leg and goes "wanna watch a movie?” I said “nah papi’s cookin rn.”

She left. I stayed up all night cookin. When I sent it to her the next morning she replied “u literally picked making untz untz music instead of me

Solid Grooves has built a strong following of loyal fans over the years. Starting out as an event series, the London based brand has since achieved global success including a prevalent Ibiza residency last year. Launching as a label in 2015, it wasn’t long before Solid Grooves Records topped Beatport’s overall charts with Wade’s remix of Dennis Cruz ‘See Line’ and cemented its reputation as an infallible imprint, releasing music from names such as Kuo Climax, ONNO, David Pher and Brett Gould.

Dennis Cruz leads the way with ‘Fake’, a vocal focused track with throbbing bass, chopped up samples and infectious percussive components before Franz Costa’s ‘Kate’ blends a medley of intricate rhythmic elements for a trippy low-slung production.

The label co-founders are up next, with Michael Bibi unleashing a roaring low-end in ‘Devil’s Candy’ whilst a spoken word sample operates through, making way for PAWSA’s ‘Taking Over’ – an atmospheric house track geared for powerful subs featuring dub inspired stabs and sharp hats. Reelow then concludes the package, demonstrating his signature style with a cacophony of percussion and mesmerizing effects.

We’re welcoming fresh new talent Kodewerk to Hannah Wants’ Etiquette imprint this month, with his debut ‘Turn’ EP. With previous successful releases on Nervous, Resonance, SIKR, Low:Res, and a forthcoming release on Pete Tong’s FFRR, Kodewerk is one of the music scene’s true grafters, having spent the past decade immersing himself in dance music and honing his craft with the kind of hands-on experience that money can’t buy. Lead track ‘Turn’ kicks off the EP with loose drums, a sleek, hypnotic bass groove, intoxicating synth lines and hip-swinging hats. ‘Wonderful One’ closes out the EP, captivating listeners with hooky chopped up vocals, chattery percussive patterns, pumping bass and slick drum loops that will set any dancefloor alight.

Kodewerk - Turn

The next release on Libero comes via Milan-based artist, Fabio Vi. The Habla Music label boss delivers ‘Into The Beat’ - consisting of two original cuts, supplemented by remixes from rising UK talents, GuyMac and Josh Lee.

The title track is built on a foundation of heavyset kicks, tonal toms, cowbells and hand drums - all complemented by a catchy vocal hook. Straight off the bat encapsulating the label ethos of percussion-centric, rolling House perfectly.

GuyMac’s remix of the A-side gives it an injection of upbeat energy. Pacey rhythms and offbeat percussion keep you on your toes, whilst acid-tinged melodics gives the track some enjoyable grit. A remix full of character, with a variety of different scenes.

Next up is Josh Lee with his remix of the title track. A track with wave-like energy and swaying percussion. Driven by a huge melodic tom sequence, constant peaks and troughs make for a hypnotic journey through its many progressive gears.

Fabio closes off the release with his track ‘Cloud’, taking things down a few floors with its dark demeanour. Undulating low-frequencies drive the track forward, propelled by subtle synths and an eerie vox line.
