my new - and first ever - single release, "lament" came to me on a morning walk in the hills above ojai, ca and i quickly whistled it into my voice recorder. which i included in the final version.  played on the una corda virtual instrument created by nils frahm and david klavins.  official release date april 10, 2021, my birthday.

one sunday afternoon on the farm I was playing the ol’ out of tune piano with my daughter playing joyfully next to me and she inspired the melody. It’s super simple and positive, a state of being I aspire to.

It’s a piece that starts out humble and minor and gradually transitions into hopeful and major - of course always with a hint of melancholy. Not doing that on purpose it just comes out that way.

i have never had a piano lesson.  in the summer of 2019, i went back to my parents house in vienna and recorded my piano doodlings.  there was a peace to their house and i healed from some of my trauma around my ex wife and daughter, and the music reflects this. i decided to have the world partake of my inner journey by publishing these 90 minutes on the major platforms in dec/jan 2021.

i think i'll call it "klavierspiele" oder "klimperein" (the german word for "doodlings")
