Ever since Pythagoras’s monochord experiments, mathematics have radically expanded our understanding of and the possibilities for producing and experiencing sound. At the same time music has a particularly intense effect when it exhibits qualities that are mathematically unpredictable. The second edition of Technosphärenklänge takes a look at the electrifying interconnections of music, mathematics and technology.

...good and evil, light and darkness, tranquility and intensity, joy, harmony, unrest, anger, conflict, death, rebirth, metamorphosis...
These elements co-exist within a musical context of intense sonic antitheses, inspired by myth and magic, and also by the human nature of emotions, thoughts, internal fight, transcendence...
For the creation of the work, sounds borrowed from an old Greek 6-string bouzouki were utilised, in combination, at certain parts, with transformed vocal sounds.

Bitter Moon

This is the 'Live Donor Liver Transplant' sequence from the show. The show was performed in the Old Vic Tunnels under Waterloo Station. I wrote the music in collaboration with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

OLD VIC/NYT Orpheus and Eurydice

This is a song from the show called 'Soho Cats' Meow' performed by the cast. The show was performed in the Vault Festival and sold out. It featured Mercury award winning folk singer Sam Lee and may other young London folk luminaries. Gwendolen Chatfield performs this song which she wrote.
