"Marguerite" is a new musical based on the heroic, adventurous life of fearless pioneer and Canada's first female saint, Marguerite Bourgeoys. Through soaring song and monologue, this one woman musical recounts Marguerite's death-defying journey to bring liberated women to the New World and help build the city of Montreal.

CLEANSING HEART MEDITATION 4.27.20

I've been prayed to the God and asking myself what can I do as an artist, how can I be more helpful to the others with what I have in this crisis. Then this, "healing project," has been started about a month ago. I didn't expect it'd take this long but it's crazy to see how everything has been done virtually - and internationally - from writing, rehearsing, recording, mixing/mastering, until making this video. I can't thank enough to my incredible friends - Gabe Violett, Luke Krafka, Tae Jong Park, NaHye Jeon, Latoya Edwards, Joanna Carpenter, Jeremy Gaston, Jenna Pastuszek, Hee Jun Park, Jae Young Jang, Sun Hee Kil, Daehyun Kim, Hyunsoo Woo, Dovin Kim, Daniel J Edwards - who are immediately say 'yes' to this challenge from their big hearts. Without them, and their talents, this couldn't happen. None of us has been in the same room but we made this together with the same loving mind. We all hope this can spread love, hope, and strength to begin post-Covid19. MICHAEL COOPER is an Outer Critics Circle and MAC Award nominated songwriter, 2017 Fred Ebb Award finalist, and recipient of the 2005 Jonathan Larson, Daryl Roth, and the TRU Daniel Marshall Multicultural Awards. His lyrics were sung on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in It Shoulda Been You, starring Tyne Daly and directed by David Hyde Pierce (previously seen at the George Street Playhouse and Village Theatre, book by Brian Hargrove, music by Barbara Anselmi). Off-Broadway: City Of (Original Song with Anton Dudley). Regional: Love, Always (Music and Lyrics, with book by Bill Connington) and Second To Nun (Music, with book and lyrics by Anton Dudley) world premieres at Zeiders American Dream Theater in Virginia Beach. BA in Theatre from Williams College; MFA from NYU Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. His musical, Sunfish, which he co-wrote book and lyrics and produced (co-book and music by Hyeyoung Kim), was awarded the top jury honor (Best New American Musical) at the Daegu International Music Theatre Festival, South Korea in June 2013. Sunfish received its regional premiere at Stoneham Theatre, MA (Broadwayworld Award Best Musical) and was showcased at the 2010 ASCAP Workshop with Stephen Schwartz, the 2006 NAMT Festival of New Musicals, the TRU Reading Series, and was a finalist in Alliance Theatre’s Kendeda Playwriting Competition.
