I first heard about this game on the SRB2 Discord server, so I decided to check it out. I ended up liking it and its music so much that I made MIDI covers of a couple tracks. This is one I just finished today!

With this cover, I focused more on making it sound like it belongs in a Doom mod (that isn't Snap, though it could technically be considered its own game anyway) rather than trying to get the instruments as accurate to the original song's as possible.

This song was created in Domino v1.43, played back on a Roland SC-55mkII, and recorded through a Yamaha UW500 in Audacity.

Snap The Sentinel - Guard Duty (General MIDI Cover)

Uses original in-game MIDI, arrangement made entirely with C700.

This came about from the incredibly half-baked idea of "what if THIS was arranged to be the Porky's Porkies equivalent of Pokey Means Business's Heavy Section???" 
I keep coming back to this idea, but always give up on it before getting anywhere because I already know the amount of planning, effort, and actual skill that I would need to pull off the 'PMB Heavy Section' arrange of Porkies like I want. The final product is literally never the "Porkies Mean Business" I have in mind.

Even with THIS I wanted to stick with exclusively PMB instruments. However, like most humans I'm obsessed with imitations that are as close as possible, and just ended up making the equivalent of a soundfont cover. Fuck off

At least this "attempt" bore some kind of fruit. It turned out pretty good, actually. In particular, the Rock Organ sounds great with these settings for the FIR Filter.
Like I alluded to earlier, I ended up importing the Rock organ, ride cymbal, a tom, and the Franky guitar, but for whatever reason couldn't bring myself to import the Crash Cymbal.

I was expecting translation to be a lot more of a headache, but to my immense satisfaction it ended up being rather streamlined. I was even able to *add* in new notes (to recreate the power chords) because of how the channels were originally handled. 
The trumpet and sax channels were barren outside of the two places you hear them for, and the intro trumpets were their own separate channels. I only needed to bring their notes over to 3 of the original channels and do stuff with the Events. Plus, thanks to BRSO Articulate I could use the already differing note colors to my strah-TEE-jik ad-VAN-tejj.
Rearranging the percussion was probably about the same amount of trouble, and for the most part it's because of the "cymbal" overlapping with other things. Of course because I just ended up using the Noise as a shitty stand-in it's not as big of a deal.

I like how, because I used the default hat in some places and included the Franky guitar, it ended up sounding more like EB. Not to mention, by coincidence the patches I chose for the brass are the same as the original Runaway Five songs'. Originally I went with them because I (rather hypocritically) didn't want to import too many new sounds.

An XG sequence I got from this .zip I found by searching up "ffvii official midi sequences". After the first round of inserting effects and instruments, I had to have the master around 58% or something. Eventually I imported the audio for j-e-n-o-v-a (god i hate typing that) into FL, to get a more accurate sound. As part of that I tried to bring over the mixing and reverb settings you hear in the real tune. By the time I was finished, I was able to have the Master Fader at 100% :)
