Five Flights Up was an original band playing in and around Dallas in the late 80's at clubs like 500 Cafe, Club Clearview, Tommys, The Rhythm Room, The Prophet Bar and more.

A live improv test recording from 1982 Synclavier II number 880C just after initial wakeup during a major overhaul and conversion to HxC based solid state floppy drive.  This is a 16-voice FM only model which produces 100% synthesized sound ie. it does not rely on sample playback.

“Lost / Found”

5th December 1993 - As far as I know this is the first 22 piece string section that was recorded at 'Real World' Studios in Box, Wiltshire. The leader was Gavin Wright, the music composed, arranged, scored out and conducted by a young Roger Bolton. The program was a 'best of' documentary celebrating 25 Years of the Natural for the BBC NHU and produced by the legendary John Sparks. All other sounds were generated on a Fairlight Series III CMI and programmed / performed by Roger. This includes the notable Piccolo Trumpet multi-sample.

Early Fairlight Series III demo transferred from cassette tape to MP3, then a tweak in Ozone 8 and a T-Racks plugin. No noise reduction.

'This Is What Happens When We All Try Our Best' was written and recorded live in one massive 'space jazz' jam session with no overdubs other than the samples 'Foolproof and Incapable Of Error'. What you hear is what we played in that moment. It's as close as you can get to being there...without actually having been there yourself.
