well here it is! my first original. holy shit... i am so thrilled (and terrified) to finally be releasing this song!! i wrote "I Just Want You" at the end of last spring; it's a song about a girl who means a lot to me, and how i felt when i met her for the first time. if you know me well, you know that i've been writing songs ever since i started making garageband beats in middle school... now that i am about to graduate college in the spring, it feels right to finally put myself out there as a singer and songwriter in addition to being a producer and dj! this isn't a perfect song by any means, but it absolutely means the world to me and i really hope it will mean the world to some of you, too.

special thanks to kevin chapman for lending me his mastering talents, and to jeff sontag for lending me his studio and helping me record my vocals- you guys are the greatest.

Chet sent me the original a while back and I directly felt in love w it. Once it got released I got really excited and had the chance to do a remix of it. Cover of Kylie Minogue's Love at First Sight from Melbourne's @takeyrtime - the first taste of Vol. 1, an upcoming compilation from Healthy Tapes with all funds going to RISE (riserefugee.org).

Take Your Time is Angela Schilling (Swimming, @isoliverwhite) and Lee Hannah (The Townhouses, @sessility) - together hanging out, drinking coffee and making their own brand of diva house ready for the kind of club that serves cappuccinos. The single is their first release since their debut 7” through @japanesewallpaper ’s boutique label, @neat-lawn.

Love at First Sight is a jazz-hued disco interpretation of a pop star the duo grew up listening to, as Angela explains;

“Kylie represents some of my most formative years throughout high school, learning about myself and forming a connection to dance music especially. She represented an optimist to a pretty naive and confused teenage me and it's powerful to relive it again as a cynical adult in need of optimism.”

Vol. 1 will be released digitally and on limited turquoise cassette through Healthy Tapes on June 30th. The compilation also features Allume, Stella Donnelly, Yeo, Culte, Bahasa Malay and many more.

‘Northern Lights’ is the new single from German music producer Tim Bernhardt of Satin Jackets and Berlin-based British vocalist and songwriter David Harks. Following a recent trip to Norway to work with fellow Eskimo artists Atella and Cavego, Tim was moved to try and capture some of his experiences there in musical form. “After experiencing a world known for its Northern Lights, I wanted to take that concept and run with it, asking myself how we could reflect this phenomena in music," Tim explains. "Despite a busy schedule, I couldn't help but take a day off and go on a trip exploring the country and the depths and beauty of one of the Fjords in the area. It was absolutely breath-taking."

 

Inspired by Tim’s experiences and music David’s lyrics narrate a journey out on the cosmic highway to find the Northern Lights, his soft vocal delivery underpinning the song’s message and bringing a sense of warmth, nostalgia and expectation as we’re led out in the dusk to explore the both the world below and skies above them. "We locked ourselves into the studio for a few days to let our imagination take its course and weave the impressions into music,” David explains. “The end result was so vivid, it felt like I had been there for it all along."
