Set Report AMFM 373

When I finally arrived on Tuesday the 26th of April in Groningen to play at Paradigm's King's Day event in the Netherlands, I had started my travel the previous day in the desert of Coachella. Sometimes you have to endure a long trip in order to play an awesome party on the other side of the planet. Paradigm is run by a super friendly family-like crew with a lot of love and compassion and exactly those factors matter a whole lot when it comes to techno parties… or techno in general really. What an extraordinary vibe that was, that can be easily compared to a night at Berghain in Berlin or similar places where the music and the location are the main ingredients for a great time. Thanks to that awesome crowd that gave me so many new ideas to mix tracks together and try out some new things. Dank u well everyone who came out and I can't wait to be back! Even after this long weekend in Las Vegas/Coachella/LA and trip back to Europe, I didn't wanna stop playing.. so the set is a little longer than 3h… hope you enjoy!

Friday Island is back with its penultimate release of the year from cross-border prog duo Pete B & Rianu Keevs, featuring stunning remixes from Dowden and Andrés Moris. Pete and Rianu have been smashing it this year with high-charting releases on Prognosis, Critical Elements and JourneyDeep, and this release is bang on the sound we’re trying to push here at Friday Island.

First up is the original mix of ‘Unfamiliar Place’, a deep, dark and moody 4am heads-down vibe inspired by labels like Zero Tolerance and Plattenbank, combining growling bass, eerie pads and ominous vocals to devastating effect.

Next up is a remix from rising star and production genius Dowden who delivers an absolute monster of a tune, departing from his usual deep and melodic vibe with a darker mood that stays faithful to the original but adds raw, gritty bass, heavy percussion and an edgy detuned synth that absolutely slaps.

Finally, Argentinean prog producer Andrés Moris offers his interpretation – a driving, techy track that maintains the eerie, dark mood but takes us more into sci-fi territory with an aggressive robo bass and groovy drums guaranteed to lift the energy on any dancefloor.

Friday Island is a new progressive house label inspired by the magic of the early 2000s but with an eye firmly on pushing the future of the sound. Friday Island’s mission is to make music for dark sweaty rooms and those cosmic 3am dancefloor moments when you forget where you are.

Agents Of Time are proud to present ‘Ordinary Cosmic Dance’, the new EP on their own Obscura imprint. Over three tracks the Bari based trio brandish hypnotic, looping melodies in techno structures with subtle trance references. It arrives a year after the birth of the label, which has since issued music by Hiver, Amandra and The Hacker amongst others.
‘Ordinary Chaos’ builds low end frequencies juxtaposed with a stripped back melodic lead and staccato bass.

The young up and coming German DJ & producer has been making quite a name for himself over the last few years and has already found himself gracing some of Europe's best clubs from Berghain to Bassiani & Tresor.

Be it by running the SEELEN imprint, dismantling one of the stops on his quickly growing tour-schedule or delivering relentless, trance-tinged techno cuts with a clear nod to pulpy 80’s science fiction. His selection in his DJ-sets shows a particular sensibility to what makes Rave culture, with a unique take on Techno spanning modern chugger’s to old school EBM anthems.
