My artistic practice is rooted in observation. In sound, for me this means intensive listening, examining acoustics (how sound travels) and psychoacoustics (how sound is perceived). Previously I have explored these through double bass improvisation and feedback/loop-based electronic performances, investigating the affective potential of extreme loud and soft. This performance utilises a classic 80s synthesiser and highly directional studio speakers, dragged around the floor, to highlight the layers of rhythm in a droning chord and the ways they can activate the space, simultaneously mirroring and imposing on the architecture.
